Pandas are bears from China that primarily eat bamboo, spending up to 14 hours a day consuming large quantities of it. They have a “false thumb” (an extended wrist bone) to help grip bamboo, a thick coat for camouflage and warmth, and are excellent climbers and swimmers. Newborn panda cubs are incredibly small, about the size of a stick of butter, and pandas are solitary, territorial animals that communicate through scent marking and sounds.
