One person is still missing, and the villagers lost everything including their homes. They were able to escape with their lives, that was a blessing, but there will be many scars. Endless prayers to these people and their families. 😇🙏💔

I'm so happy all were evacuated beforehand. A well thought out plan was a blessing. Yet, I'm sad to think, many will have to begin all over after losing so much.
Half a mountain fell onto the glacier after which it was only a matter of time till the glacier dislodged itself.
The river is backing up swallowing houses which seemed to be safe. The valley is blocked for a very long time!!
The swiss are very inventive but the mixture of melting glacier and mud and boulders which bolted into the valley, will probably be very treacherous for a while.
The swiss know what its like to be snowed in.
As summer comes on God's sun will beat down on the mess but the depth of it is huge remaining cold and impacted for years. 9 million cubic meters fell onto the valley floor and still stones, boulders are falling. The little lake which feeds the Lonza river has reached 5 metres in height and is slowly searching for a way over the massive plug.
The optimistic mayor of Blatten says "we will rebuild.. " Pundits say "Where?"
God only knows what will finally eventuate.
People where evacuated many days before the glacier coming down. Well done geologists to foresee this.

I heard most people if not all of them were evacuated before this happened, still not a good outcome but they survived than not I suppose.
There will be trouble when this massive dam is breached by the river.

That was not wise to build a village in an area where Avalanches was going to happen sooner or later hot wise at all
