  1. The worst thing about that building was the speed of the failure front. I’ve watch the video closely and it goes from initial column shearing from slab to over half the floor detaching from the violence of the unload of that one column, to half the columns now buckling….. in less that 500ms……

  2. Wow, certainly something wrong with the design or quake resistance, though building is obv unfinished still. At least it wasn't completed and occupied!

  3. The Chinese have already built hundreds of buildings in Bangkok that remained standing after the quake, yet all the attention is directed to one that collapsed while under construction. Some commentators are really working overtime to get what little USAID money is left.

  4. Hi all haters! Please know the facts… The one to be blamed are the design engineer which is (non China company), they design it, control the quality and inspect everything.
Chinese contractors is just build accordingly to the design specs. Please don't accuse China work is tofu dreg. Know and study the actual facts behind and don't blind by haters media that trying to condemn China.

  5. Only one building went down from a 7.7 richter earthquake a 1000 miles away. If the actual earthquake hit Bangkok it would of crumbled.

  6. Even the 2011 earthquake in Japan, which had a magnitude of 9.0, didn’t cause buildings to collapse like this. So why did this building fall apart in such a way?

The Chinese company responsible for its construction will probably do everything it can to cover it up.

  7. What time did the earthquake begin and end? What time was the collapse? If it were a condo building, how much time do people have to escape (from the moment quake begins)… using the fire exit, running downstairs to the ground floor and getting out of the building?
