COORG, INDIA – Today we’re in the mountains of Karnataka, in Coorg, India to make and eat Pandi Curry, an insanely delicious pork curry and one of the signature dishes of the Kodava people!
Thank you to my great friend Ebbin: @FoodNTravel
Shelly and Subbu for cooking: @thewishpilot

Coorg is a district in the Karnataka state of South India, located in the mountains between Mangalore and Mysore. It’s a beautiful region, home to the Kodava people, and known for their cultural heritage, for growing coffee, and for their incredible food that’s unlike anywhere else.
Today we had the privilege of being with Shelly and Subbu who will be cooking for us some of the local Kodava cuisine. The first dish is pandi curry, an incredible pork curry that’s marinated and cooked with huge amounts of special roasted masala spices, curry leaves, sawtooth coriander, and the one of a kind; garcinia syrup, which is one of the signature flavors of the Kodava people. You eat pandi curry along with rice balls, and the combination is something truly magical. We also enjoyed black pepper chicken, jackfruit, and a few other side dishes. For dinner we had an equally magnificent local meal, with pork fry and unbelievable flavor profiles.
This was a day of Indian food that is lesser recognized, in fact the flavors were totally different from any other meal in India I’ve ever had!

Absolutely love this video. Fantastic way to showcase the truly local food. Cooking food that isn't usually available in restaurants like jackfruit, mango in the estate among coffee blooms.. this is what food series is… Wish Mangalore series had something like this.. showcasing the amazing food like pork, beef, seafood, fermented foods and rice preparations that aren't available in restos.
In Kerala, Christians and Hindus eat pork dishes except the Muslims

Indian Restaurant Menu represents less than 1% of what is cooked in Indian Homes. India has a really great diversity of Ingredients and Cuisines, and Culture around food.
yeah its not overpowering because you have really not much tastebuds left after living in china sechuan :D, my father friend was the same, he needed to add whole bunch of black pepper to every european dish to even feel it…
you need some mediocre european to taste this stuff and then we will see his reaction 😀
WoW SO DELICIOUS ,NOT DESI ALONE
