Sidious was always deformed for his heavy use of the dark side. His regular face was a front created with dark side witchcraft. I don’t know what lore content got you to think otherwise but true Star Wars fans know this pretty well

Wasn't it shown in a clone wars episode when they had first suspected palp to be the Sith Lord? I remember watching it for the first time in suspense wondering what would be the thing to stop them from realising his true identity until Revenge of the Sith. Think it might have even been when the Jedi discovered that all clone troopers had inhibitor chips in them via a particular clones chip accidentally executing "order 66" early causing him to kill a Jedi and try to kill more. Been so long since I watched clone wars so I can't remember how that ended but I'm almost certain that's when they were on the brink of discovering palp as a sith
He wanted Yoda to wallow in his defeat. Sidious reveled in Yoda's misery.
