Normally I love your takes, but I can't disagree more on story 3. The date was chosen because it's the couple's anniversary not just the venue. Yes, it's unfortunate it shares a date with something so tragic, but the tragedy took place 2 years before they even started dating (not 2 years before the marriage so there has been time). The wedding has nothing to do with the tragedy. The family taking it as a slight is insane especially if they know its the couples anniversary. Yes they went through something horrible, but their living family still with them need their support for just a few hours, not even the entire day. They are making it clear they do not love her enough to support her. Infact they are still so hurt over the accident they take something completely unrelated as a direct attack. They need therapy. IDK if op is the asshole because she just warned her daughter but her daughter is the victim not the AH. OP's family is the AH.
The girl who chose the drunkard friend. Her actions in chosing him over the bf just goes to show her immature selfish character. Under no circumstance so you chose a friend over your relationship. None whatsoever. You are continuously blaming the bf for something that only you and the "friend" did. Yes you apologized and set up a "boundary" but everybody knows that the friend will break that boundary and you will allow it because you're spineless. And now, because you chose not to take total accountability for what YOU did, you are single, and for good reason. He's better off. When one of your so called friends uses you this way and they are in your " circle" you walk away from them and the "circle". It's not complicated. Grow up. If ex won't answer the phone, be an adult and go to his house, give him the respect that he deserves and you clearly owe him, look him in the eye and apologize. You're not afraid that it'll make things worse. You're afraid of it being proof that you were wrong in the entire situation the entire time. If you cannot do that you do not deserve this or any other relationship.
