8. Wendigos are one of the coolest of all the mythological beasts, but its becoming so incredibly over saturated on the internet. The wind stops blowing? Wendigo. The birds stop chirping? Yup, definitely a Wendigo. Or there will be 2 back to back stories saying "this is what wendigos do" and they directly contradict each other. The same thing is happening with skinwalkers. Let them be what they are, and stop making every single creepy thing that happens in the forest a "wendigo sighting".

I think that Native Americans folklore was based upon the act of cannibalism of a tribal member, being exiled from the tribal land, and then seeing a crawler (a tall but emaciated humanoid creature with white/ pale skin that resides in caves or underground burrows), and the Native Americans equating the exiled cannibal and humanoid creature as one and the same. This misidentification seems to be continuing with current sightings, as it would stand to reason that the Wendigo would not be as prominent, but crawlers would be active and of a larger population overall. Native Americans tied the two together, but it’s more likely that the exiled individual may have fallen as prey to the crawlers. Crawlers are seen all across North America, and many other continents as well, so it stands to reason that seeing these creatures in areas without an indigenous presence, or a frigid winter season, points to this humanoid’s existence regardless of the act of cannibalism by a human. I believe it was the Native Americans way of explaining the phenomenon of an unidentified humanoid. Crawler sightings have been reported with greater frequency as many re and more people are on the road at night, or have cameras on their property which also happens to be by a wooded area. The existence of crawlers, and their tendency to live underground or in abandoned man made structures, is likely to be a cause of the missing 411 phenomenon. Being accosted and dragged underground by a creature that is a highly skilled hunter is nightmarish, but is also a very real possibility all over the forests of North America.

    Until the damn thing is tested, I have no ability to confirm or deny this. But if the artifact I have can truly let me consume and integrate such energies I may be able to gain what they have in an otherwise unchanged body.

    Basically the only way to know is to throw down a gamble. 50% chance it’ll work, 50% chance we’d die trying. May as well though. Life without success in such ambitions is hardly worth considering life at all. Can’t say I’m particularly interested in it dragging on longer than needed.

    For now I’m working on my (completely unrelated) show and holding out for the first substantial waves of inheritance money. So thats two cards in my hand. After that its time to travel the country and search for the most energetically powerful people, artifacts, creatures, and places.

    Hopefully reverse engineering what we find as we go along and stacking it. So ig I consider that the point that makes it or breaks it. Wether or not continuing to bother with this world is worth it.

    It may even be too late idk. The dystopian shit pool might be too far extended by then…
