4. I witnessed a plane crash when I was 15 yrs old 3 days before Xmass. I heard the plane sputtering looked up as it was coming down it flew right over the top of me as I was walking home from school. It crashed about 800 ft from were I was walking into a neighborhood. I ran to my house called the police they said they were aware. I ran down the street to the crash and found out the plane had just missed my best friends sister and she was just a 150 ft from the actual crash. She saw the pilot and his wifes faces and pilot was waiving his hand at her to get out of the way. She blamed herself for years after the accident. She kept saying if I wasn't in his way he wouldn't have pulled up and hit the telephone wires causing them to slam into the ground. If she wasn't there the plane was headed between two houses into a field the pilot had found a place to put it down but he had to get it under the telephone wires touching down right before them. Her being right at the spot he needed to touch down made him pull up and hit the wires😢. I tried for years to help her understand it wasn't her fault. She was just a kid walking home from school. The scene I witnessed that day and knowing exactly what the last seconds for everyone involved were like plus the carnage has never left me. It haunts me at Xmass every year. There has not been one Xmass that I haven't thought about the couple in the plane and their families who were waiting for them to come home for Xmass. It's strange but that whole family is still in my thoughts and prayers to this day I carry them in my heart. My best friends sister was finally able to put aside that tragedy and live a normal life but we both agreed Xmass was never the same after and the joy and we use to feel was gone or diminished greatly.
