The Most HORRIFIC Injuries In The NHL Fans Have Ever Seen..

Welcome back to Sport Soar. Hockey players are some of the toughest people in the world, but they’re only human. Devastating, and even life-threatening, accidents have happened throughout professional hockey history. Here are the five worst NHL injuries ever. In Game 6 of the 1996 Western Conference Finals, Avalanche forward (and noted goon) Claude Lemieux checked Red Wings forward Kris Draper from behind, driving Draper’s face into the boards. He suffered a broken jaw along with shattered cheek and orbital bones which required reconstructive surgery and numerous stitches. This incident is widely considered the genesis of the Avalanche – Red Wings rivalry that exploded on March 26, 1997 with the “Brawl in Hockeytown,” in which nine different fights occurred.

On Mar. 8, 2004, during the third period of what was a 9-2 blowout victory by Steve Moore’s Avalanche over Todd Bertuzzi’s Canucks, the latter attempted to instigate a fight. Moore attempted to skate away, but Bertuzzi chased him and sucker punched him from behind. Moore was knocked unconscious and fell face-first on the ice. He fractured three neck vertebrae and suffered a concussion, and was never able to play again. A civil lawsuit against Bertuzzi and the Canucks was settled over 10 years after the incident on Aug. 19, 2014. Video of the incident itself is hard to find, but Bill Masterton’s fatal head injury suffered on Jan. 13, 1968 is widely considered the darkest moment in NHL history. He is the only NHL player to die from an on-ice injury. Masterton was converged upon by two defenders at the same time – Larry Cahan and Ron Harris of the Oakland Seals – and was sent directly onto the back of his head. Like many players at the time, Masterton was not wearing a helmet. He was knocked unconscious and died 30 hours later. The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the player who, “best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey,” was named in his honor.

  1. Bless hockey players. As a figure skater, I've watched a few practices. Hockey looks easy, but god, its scary to watch. Some of these injuries are honestly why I can't date a hockey boy. I couldn't beat to livewith the fear of my loved one getting so severely injured every time they'd have a game.

  2. for everyone talking about the adam johnson incident, i would just like to say i was there at the arena the night it took place. it was heartbreaking to see that happen. i won't give my opinion on whether it was an accident or not. rip adam fly high – #foreverour47

  3. The committee and organizers of Hokey league should revisit their game rules and guidelines. Too much physicality and serious injury are endured by players. ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼

  4. I know one player landed on a goalie’s skate (shoulder) and another player pulled him off, and proceeded to pull him off the ice.
Yes, there was a massive fight that the skate-cut guy wanted to be part of!

  5. RIP ADAM JOHNSON.i cried watching Pittsburgh Penguins as they paid tribute to Adam at their 1st game after the tragedy.i am a Penguins fan and was so shocked and saddened by this.

  6. One of the worst videos repays I have ever seen or didn't see!!!!! Where's the video injuries!!!??? He talk about them but no show of them!!!!👎👎👎👎👎👎

  7. Neck guards should be mandatory for ALL ice sports involving more that 1 person being on the ice.
Unfortunately ice sports are dangerous and you need to be aware of not only yourself and others around you, but your blades, sticks, whatever you use while on the ice.
You can fall, cut someone etc. Those blades are SHARP. Be careful, be aware of who's around you, wear appropriate gear to protect your body.
A figure skating pair, the man accidentally hit his partners face with his blade during the olympics, she was okay luckily but scarred, literally. Wear butt pads for jumps while training, wear neck guards during hocket. Etc.
    RIP to those who died…

  8. I can’t believe the pain that man must have endured, having his jaw broken like that. I have felt terrible jaw pain from surgeries, and it’s quite overwhelming. I can’t imagine how he managed to stay in the game!

  9. Go to Highlight Harbor. It has a clearer video and play it at 0.25 he did this on purpose! His skate did not hit the other players' skate and he had Adam in his sight from the beginning! It is MURDER!

  10. The last one I’m sorry that he broke his jaw a lot of times but that’s a struggle. That’s why I don’t play hockey. I’m just scared to play hockey because I don’t know how to skate or other stuff.

  11. 2:11 He didn’t just get a concussion. His head was turned backwards.

Rip Adam Johnson. He was recently slit through the neck on ice and was announced dead in the hospital.

  12. 0:32 😂😂😂

You put the wrong picture of ‘Steve Tuttle.’ That is a picture of my father. Lmao. My Dad is an investment manager, not the NHL player. You can’t make this shit up.
