I was living in Ipswich Australia at the time of this one. Ipswich has had a few sink holes open up over the years, but fortunately, no one has been hurt in any of them. Ipswich does have alot of abandoned coal mines.

A sinkhole opened under cruise lake in Pasco County Florida in the 90's. Residents around the lakesaid they went to bed with their boats floating tied to their docks and woke up with them sitting on the ground ahd what was left of the lake hundreds of feet away. One witness night fishing said that it looked like someone pulled a giant plug out of a bathtub and the water swirled down a drain.
