Sometimes animal rescues aren’t easy!
For those who have asked, yes we do often get bitten! The OCN rescue team is currently on seal patrol up North at Torra Bay and we have little communication with them. However, Naude managed to send us this video. They are facing some tough terrain.
Torra Bay is located 350km north of Walvis Bay. The Torra Bay colony is about 15km South of Torra Bay. Then they’ll be scouting the Mowe Bay colony – about 130km North of Torra Bay. 8 seals have been rescued thus far!

They may look cute and cuddly but, given the chance, they will defend themselves.
Whenever the team get close to the Seals, they run the risk of getting a nip. This clearly conveys the dedication they have, putting themselves in harms way to help. I think the team will be a bit more wary from now on though.

Oh my! Sorry you lost balance and got bit in the bargain. Hope it wasn't too bad that you need stitches. I'm sure this wasn't the first time for anyone on your team to slip on the rocks, and as sure as you got bit, it won't be the last time either. Thank you for your diligence in these rescues while also knowing the risks.
