Historic South Portland fish shacks washed away by high tide at Willard Beach!

A massive Saturday storm brought record flooding and high winds to coastal Maine, destroying iconic fishing shacks along a South Portland beach!..

The three fish shacks were caught on camera being pulled apart by the ocean.

We are seeing videos of damage coming in from across Maine after waves battered the state’s coastline.

The shacks at Fishermen’s Point were the last tie to a long fishing history, dating back to the early 1700s.

Fishermen’s Point was the first wharf in Portland Harbor and was a major trading site for hundreds of years.

The Portland tide gauge settled out at 14.57 feet. That’s the highest tide ever recorded in Portland.

Portland broke an all-time record high tide on Saturday..

The old record was 14.17 feet, which was set during the blizzard of 1978. The records go back to 1912.

Please stay safe and assist the City as crews continue to assess significant damage due to flooding.
