In the second half of the day on Friday, January 12, a tragedy occurred in the department of Chocó, Colombia. A massive landslide occurred on the road connecting the municipality of Quibdó with the city of Medellín. At least 50 people were in the landslide area.
The moment when the earth began to fall, sweeping everything in its path, including people and vehicles, was captured on video by a person who was at the scene at that very moment.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene for a rescue operation. Juan Bautista Tavares Laverde, a member of the firefighting team, reported that around midnight they had to suspend search operations due to rain, but early Saturday morning, the rescue activity resumed. Several residents joined the work and assisted the affected from the beginning.
At least 37 fatalities are already known in this disaster, and unfortunately, more cannot be ruled out, as several people are still missing.
Families from Chocó and Antioquia arrived at the scene, fearing that their loved ones might be buried underground.
According to the National Road Institute, seven sections with landslides were identified on the Transversal Quibdó – Medellín route, which halted traffic.
Intense rains in this area since January 11 saturated the slopes with moisture, leading to landslides and collapses. In the latest report from the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology, and Environmental Studies (Ideam), it is stated that at least 7 departments of the country remain on high alert due to the imminent risk of landslides.
The Ministry of Transportation emphasized that the rains continue with the same intensity, and landslides are expected to continue, “resulting in new cases of complete road closures.”
Even one local natural disaster leads to significant loss of human lives. Disasters around the world are the result of disobedience to God. Choose a religion that does not contradict the word of God. We all know that disobedience to God is the work of lucifer or satam. God is a loving God. God does not want people to perish, so He has His word that we must follow. Because of sins, we are separated from God. God is so Holy. So His only Son was sent to spread the word of His Father and redeem the sins of us all. I don't understand why many people are angry with the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son's obedience to God the Father and love for people succeeded in redeeming us, He took the punishment that should be for us. Even though God the Father is hurt by His sacrifice of His only Son, He must do it so that the people He loves are not destroyed. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Lord Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God the Father God which is the Supreme God. The Son of God is also a God. The eternal power of God should not be questioned. The Holy Spirit of Christ is the Spirit of God. Christ/Word becomes flesh. The precious blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us. No matter how big our sins are, our Lord Jesus can wash them away. For everyone to know that anywhere in a quiet place one can worship and praise God because our body is a temple or church of God. By repenting and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ wholeheartedly, God will give us the Holy Spirit to guide us so that we can be righteous and holy because God is very Holy and heaven is a holy place. Sinners will never enter heaven.
