12. Maybe I'm being naive, but it seems to me that lion is contemplating if he should make the kill or not. He stops every time the baby squeaks. He looks around seeing if its mother or kind is nearby. He licks it almost in an affectionate way. Then he allows it to get up and walk away even if it's just a few distant away. It seems he came to the conclusion that it'll die on its own and he has to eat. Nature can be cruel, but that doesn't necessarily mean the animals are as well.
