  1. Jocko basically shot himself in the foot here: he literally admits that there's a BJJ academy on pretty much every street corner in cities such as San Diego … so what he's not mentionning but implying is that even if you do know jiu jitsu, it won't help you, since so many people also know jiu jitsu … this is why it's only a matter of time before jiu jitsu will become useless overtime and be no different from Mcdojo stuff karate, taekwondo or kung fu … when everyone's a blue belt, nobody will benefit from it …

  2. Ok the problem is all these people train and do bjj but not every fuckn person is a God and if you get punched in the face hard by someone who knows how to punch I doubt every person is going to resist , they going to get knocked out

  3. Street fights and sport fights are two completely different worlds. UFC fighters have been stabbed to death, even though they can beat up most people in an octagon.

The reality is that no martial art (including Jiu-jitsu) has any reliable defense against knives, so I don't care how trained you are, if you're unarmed and someone has a knife (or any weapon), you need to leave your ego at the gym and run away because you're going to get cut, and any cut could kill you. That's the truth about street fights.

  4. Many people are training. Part of the problem I see is that most BJJ schools no longer teach takedowns. Good luck bringing the fight to your realm. I love Jiu Jitsu but this is something we have to fix or it won’t remain useful for so called self defense.

  5. When it comes down to it, EXPERIENCE is the best martial art. A guy who has been getting into barfights all his life (think of that rough looking dude you've seen in a bar) will probably destroy a trained martial artist in a street fight.

  6. I watched a BJJ go to the ground had his eye gauged he had to let go then his head got stomped rushed to hospital, in a street fight they are trying to hurt you and they will hurt you, even if they see a rock your getting smashed by a rock BJJ doesn't work when someone is commited to taking you out

  7. I have never gotten into a street fight, and I pray to whatever, that I never will. No way on earth anybody survives a street fight in my town without packing a weapon. Back in February at a local bar, a black van pulled up down the street. Out of the van came 7 men armed with aluminum bats and knives. All because there was these 4 guys, some of the gang member's met inside the bar who they felt irritated by. No martial art is gonna save you from a situation like that, but good cardio may be your ticket to live another day.

  8. Another misconception is that street fights are fair, most people would rather pull out a gun, so my training has taught me to go for the throat and eyes. I dont care how much you can lift when I've spent the last 10 years of my life training to pluck your eye ball from your skull in one clean motion… he is SO right.
