English Cockers are definitely larger than American Cockers, and I suspect more intelligent as well, as mine’s speed of acquisition/understanding of English, including the meaning or proper association of name sounds to a person, dog, location or behavior associated with the English word, far exceeds that of any of my prior dogs (I’m 75, so I’ve had several different breeds). Plus they are good looking & come in quite a few colors, etc.

3. I grew up around cockers. A good portion is about the owner. I had one cocker that couldnt bite anyone or thing and another who battle to the death if you try something. They are smart dogs and affectionate.

12. I have a cocker spaniel puppy and it is NOT easy to train a cocker. (and yes my cocker is an english cocker not american cocker. He's a male puppy named Diesel, he's 16 weeks and hes black and white <3

16. The American cocker is not bigger than the English cocker it’s actually smaller and everything negative about the breed is not true . The English and American cockers are very family friendly it’s how well you socialize them and train them how they will behave with your household. Get your dog from a reputable breeder and make sure they know the breed because this guy doesn’t he contradicted himself on everything negative he says about to breed to say the same opposite lol I owned cockers for 20 yrs never have they been aggressive or a nuisance they been trained to be well mannered dogs . I currently own 10 ranging from 7yrs to 8 months old puppy and still will say I love my cockers they are the best breed of dogs to me ❤

24. As a child, my American Cocker would attack on command. No one got hurt, but some bullies and even 1 would-be home invader got scared off (some local teens who were ironically from the wealthy side of the neighborhood went through a crime spree of theft for a few months one year, and if not for the cocker we would have been victimized) She was the sweetest thing, but very protective of us kids when needed.
    I was her favorite person of 7 children. My ADHD brother teased ger so she did nip him a few times ahich some would say is a negative trait, but he was overwhelmed by his relentless energy.
    I really loved that dog. She died of heart issues brought on by lack of dental care. I always take care of my family and my dogs teeth because of her untimely death at only 8 years old.

37. English cockers are larger than american cockers, and they also have high grooming requirements and need to be brushed daily to avoid matting.

38. Most of the commentary is utter rubbish. The English cocker spaniel breed is over 500 years old. The American cocker breed is about 125 years old and smaller than the English. English cocker weighs around 15 kilos and American around 10 kilos.
