At least you didn’t leave him to get hit by a vehicle or starve to death and you cared enough to stop and help him. He looks so happy not caged and playing. He probably isn’t sure yet if he actually can stay or if he’ll be caged if he makes a mistake but looks like you have a buddy for sure a new one. He’s a beautiful pup that looks like he’s had a rough way to go probably wasn’t aloud to even be a puppy just a prisoner.

why would someone get an dog and lock them in a crate ??
I guarantee you, that dog would much rather die on the street than be held prisoner, in the most beautiful home, in a cage.
Don't get an animal if you think it should live in a crate.

He looks exactly like my first pit I rescued! How beautiful. Thanks for saving this sweet baby. You may be surprised when he stays smaller than a great Dane, often pit bull ears stand up high before they mature. The ears of every pit I adopted were like his.

My rescue dog came from an Amish puppy mill where he spent 6 months in a crate before they gave him to a rescue. They surrendered him because he was "too big for his breed" and they couldn't sell him. He's been with me now for 12 years, and there are no crates in his life anymore. The thought of dogs spending their lives in crates really upsets me! Dogs are social animals, and truly are man's best friend! They deserve happy homes!
