Oxygen Sensor Trick and Operation Guide

Oxygen Sensor Trick and Operation Guide
Spread The Viralist

In this video I will show you how and Oxygen Sensor aka air fuel ratio sensor works, how the heating element ground power and the signal wire work and a hack you can use to identify each wire. Using the knowledge in this video you’ll be able to diagnose and fix problems with oxygen sensors with one, two, three or four wires.

  1. Hi, my car kia stonic 2018 1.6 crdi had new dpf, turbo, egr, intake manifold and o2 sensors, and it's still running rich , showing 0.9v at idle and when cruising at constant speed stays at 0.4-0.5v, when giving it throttle it goes down to 0.1-0.2 , when releasing the gas pedal goes as high as 1.4v , running i guess as it regenerates the dpf every 130 miles and has a thin layer of soot inside exhaust tailpipe. Any suggestion what could be wrong with it, kia don't seem to know what's wrong with it .
    Thank you
    Not throwing any codes.

  2. Lmao. This video is so old but I love your videos as well. That running for president joke is still valid and at the great advice you give in your videos… I mean at this point it must be a walk up and apply type of thing

  3. Keep your political ambitions out of your repair videos and they would be grate . Like to learn what others have but don’t give a rats ass about your political views

  4. I’m an autozoner and had wondered why my customer had two different o2 sensors. One had the correct plug that matches what he needed but the down stream had a different plug by the end of of the o2 sensor. Upstream had a square looking plug in while the down stream had a triangle look. He says it won’t match his vehicle but I tried the best I can to match his vehicle. Are the down stream and up stream o2 sensors supposed to look different?

  5. This is southern dipper. Can you, or anybody give me an answer on the question I ask about my 2010 Nissan altima 2.5 loosing power. Since I posted the question, I had all 4 spark plugs replaced, all 4 coil pks replaced, and changed the air filter. It is running better, but still at 3000, 3200 RPM'S, it is still doing the same thing. PLEZ, CAN ANY1 TELL ME WHAT ELSE I NEED TO TRY

  6. I replaced both 02 sensors 2 times on my 2.0l honda crv yr 2000 still getCEL for heating element circut code for both b1 and b2 I don't know what the problem could be? Cat is in alittle rough shape could that be causing this?

  7. Does the power to the heating element, let's say for a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, shut off after it is warmed up enough? Because, if it does not, and the heating element portion of the O2sensor is bad, theoretically could one substitute the proper value resistor (and proper wattage power resistor) if the O2 sensor is a bear to remove? This of course just temporarily to get it to pass inspection until you have time to replace it and don't want to lay on the cold, snowy ground to do it.

  8. Nice video.
However, I have a ford focus 2000 model ,but my downstream sensor has no single wire connected to it. It seems the wires were forcefully pulled.. the wires are completely damaged and missing. Please it is possible to rewire it,especially getting that signal wire that goes to the car's computer. Thanks

  9. I just tested my o2 sensor. When testing the resistance, I get an erratic reading. From 6 ohm to 100ohm. Does that mean my sensor is bad?

  10. Do you have any knowledge on why my 2010 Nissan altima 2.5 is idling smooth, runs smooth, till i get on an upward hill on the hwy, it gets around 3000 rpms, and it starts loosing power so bad, alot of differant codes pop up, i get off the road, turn engine of, then restart it, it clears all codes, its in the shop now, they said it needed new timing chain, that didnt fix it. Muffler shop said converter was good, i had new maf sensor put on it also. Nothing is working i have had done. I need HELP😢

  11. How do I know which plug I need to plug into when all of my sensors (4 sensors with 4 wires upstream bank 1 bank 2, and downstream bank 1 and 2.)have the same fit on my 98 mercury mountaineer 5.0l ?

  12. Does anyone if I can wire a single wire o2 sensor if my card original o2 is a four wire. And if so how do I wire that. Can I just cap off the heating wires?

  13. Awesome videos very helpful! So I’m in the same pickle, my 4pin o2 wire harness is toasted and melted on the vehicle side. My question is the signal wire is a shielded wire, how do I complete the circuit with incorporating shielding in the 4 pin configuration

  14. Watching your great videos from qatar. Qu, if test light is on battery positive and touch the harness side positive pin, what will happen?

  15. By running your testlight into the o2 sensor plug with 12v+ are you not risking damage to the computer?? The signal wire from the 02 sensor to the computer only puts out max 1v. I'm guessing this is a good way to cook the computer.
