The Shih Poo is a mixed breed dogโa cross between the Shih Tzu and Toy Poodle dog breeds. Small, hypoallergenic and cuddly companions, these pups inherited some of the best qualities from both of their parents.
Shih-Poos make great companion animals for just about anyone, but a retired senior would most likely be an ideal match. They love to be doted on, pampered, and loved. They are pretty versatile and can thrive in almost any environmentโfamily home, apartment, or tiny house in the middle of nowhere.
Shih poos are smart but may be stubborn. To train them effectively, youโll need to figure out how to motivate them. Often, this involves food rewards or somehow inspiring the dog to believe that what you want him to do is his own idea.
When it comes to their coat, the Shih poo puppies can either have a lovely, short, curly coat much like the Poodle or they can inherit a longer, straighter coat of the Shih Tzu with some dogs being a mixture of the two. It is worth noting that puppies from the same litter can have very different coats, but all Shih poos have coats that are soft and luxurious to the touch.
