France is still grappling with extreme weather conditions. On September 12th, the Pyrénées-Orientales region was hit by severe thunderstorms, prompting Météo France to issue a yellow alert for the area. In just a matter of hours, the entire southern portion of the Perpignan agglomeration experienced rainfall equivalent to what is typically seen in a month. Precipitation levels reached up to 100 mm, leading to some streets resembling flowing rivers. Furthermore, Thuir recorded wind gusts reaching a remarkable 118 km/h, and there were even reports of astonishingly large hail, some as big as golf balls, in Canohès. These weather events could have significant repercussions for vineyards that have yet to complete their harvest, and emergency response teams were inundated with approximately one hundred weather-related calls.
