  1. 2:58 Your pointing at the air Intake instead of exhaust. the front 4 holes are the exhaust.
4:55 There ain't no gearing there (or at all); you are aiming at the hammer.
I don't know man i watched several of your videos and although I don't agree on everything its still very interesting to watch.
Also my DCF887 behaves way different than yours. It overdrives like a MFer on 2 and 3 and has no hammer on 1 at all, it just beeps and shuts of.

  2. Found this video because my 887 just failed. Been running it daily for about 4 years, rain sleet snow whatever. Been very happy with it up until now. Mine overheated just like this one. Kinda sucks, but for the money it's made and abuse it's taken I'd still buy another.

  3. im an orange guy through and through, so yes im salty, but im still shocked that you guys think ridgid an "apprentice" tool and dewalt is a "pro" tool when dewalt is the only brand to ever literally go up in smoke in a ttr (to my knowledge).

  4. Vince. I do new construction hvac. And i can say that ive smoked through 3 of these 887s. And all of them have been from falling less than 6ft (ladder) each one cracked at the base of the batteries. 887s need improvement

  5. This is no lie , but lol , I use milwaukee for lag crews anything heavy duty with impact , otherwise you need dewalt midrange impact it holds up just fine , half the time people are using these tools for unintended purposes it's just that milwaukee standard impact can handle those unintended purposes , not that milwakee standard impact won't eventually burn up to though it can just handle bigger jobs being an standard impact , if your driving big hardware you need a midrange impact with dewalt and your golden , if your driving deck screws maybe small tapcons your good with the standard dewalt , it's common sense really use the tool for it's intended purpose and your ok , milwaukee has more ass for it's standard impact that's all there is to it

  6. 08:0008:16 the best words from Vince.

It 2019 now, just bought a DCD 776 Cordless Combi Drill in July with a wobbling chuck (from a Dewalt authorised South East Asia Distributor).
Most Dewalt Cordless drill chuck still wobble even with the high end models, (refering to several videos from Youtubers, dated back from year 2014).

It seem Dewalt mass production teams put their priority towards QUANTITY rather than QUALITY.

Not all Dewalt are perfectly built, try other less known and cheaper brands, some might suprise you.

  7. I have just burnt out my 7 month old 887 impact driver. Darn dewalt. Had to pull up old decking & smoked after undoing about 60 50mm bugle screws

  8. Bought the exact same driver from amazon. Worked for 5 seconds and burned. Same problem as the second DeWalt in video. I'm waiting for the replacement from amazon.

  9. I hate to point this out but, 1. The guy is not wearing gloves so I feel like the heat dispersion isn't as good. 2. Who puts all there weight on a impact like that anyways? If you were hand tightening with a screwdriver, I'd understand. The point of the power tool is so you don't physically exert yourself. And seriously, I could put my free hand on the back of this tool without blocking the vent. Sure, the overheat protection could be better but it didn't fail from extended use you dummies, it fail cause the ridiculous weight he exerted onto the tool created a ridiculous amount of resistance. Did the put equal distribute your weight exerted onto the tool?… Probably not. Maybe the root cause isn't even the impact or the person but the flexvolt itself. Why don't you do a video on that. Only one of those those has a capacity to run a 60v battery…

  10. Looks like the rigid is the better engerniered tool.
Although brushless motors aren't meant to get as hot perhaps they have less heat tolerance??

  11. So basically you didn't really abuse it you just waited for it to cut out and it didn't. I would imagine keeping it running after those lug nuts would keep the motor fan going. It just hot too hot. I would imagine for skrews and the occasional lug nut it would be fine.
It should have a cutout. How being brushless did it get so hot?

  12. FLAWED COMPARISON??? Pause the clip at 2:27 and to me it's immediately noticeable how much more downwards force is being applied to the DEWALT compared to MAKITA. This causes more resistance acting against the bolt. To me it looks like the dewalt is trying to push through the wood, when It is dominantly the hammering action along the rotational axis that drives the screw. Applying excessive force is counter productive and damages the tool

  13. i honestly had my milwaukee impact driver heat up on me supposedly the best one out at the time heat up so bad on me that it burned the palm of my hand, just last week did go back to my 887 from dewalt both new but its alright maybe just defective.

  14. Today at Home Depot they had the Dewalt socks, 3 pair of socks $5.99CAN. Milwaukee is top of the line… unlike Dewalt will start selling lingerie and diapers for the seniors….🤣🤣🤣

  15. I changed battery platforms….it was Milwaukee, Dewalt, or Makita as my choices. Chose Milwaukee and so far I am happy. All brands have issues unfortunately and none are the best at everything. Don't worry Vince about the haters. Your just saying the truth and trying to help. People can take it or leave it.
