I'm pretty sure non-human mammals are preprogrammed to know anything small and pudgy with shut eyes is something that needs protection at the cost of their own lives.
Dogs just seem to know human babies are super fragile, and almost all of them (Excluding ones whose owners are hellspawn, and maybe Chihuahuas), go in to keep the babynsafe.
Also, I think that all dogs have the same amount of evil in them, but the reason larger breeds are super nice and derpy is because more of them has less evil.

Aren’t dogs absolutely amazing. My dad used to tell me stories about dogs he knew and he used to tell me as a little girl that dogs will give up their life to protect you and believe me as the years went on I found that to be true. God gave us such a gift in horses and dogs. We are so lucky.
