High risk dog was saved from euthanasia at the very last second - her miraculous story!
Spread The Viralist

Merida is a long time resident of the animal shelter. She was upgraded to high risk of euthanasia, but was adopted! However, she was found as a stray a couple of months later, and was upgraded to high risk of euthanasia again. Merida, aka Butterball, was the last of 5 to be fostered and was injected with a numbing agent before her fatal shot. But, the phone rang and a concerned citizen agreed to drive to the shelter to save her.

The effects of the first shot were reversed and Merida is doing great. She’s living with a foster now, but is still looking for her forever family. Please reach out if you are interested in adopting or rescuing this sweet angel.

This is part of the Doggy Day Out Columbia SC series. After watching A Guy And A Golden based in Anderson, SC, I started working with Columbia Animal Services in Columbia South Carolina to take shelter dogs on a much needed break for the best day ever. Doggy Day Out for Adoption helps shelter dogs get exposure and socialization and helps rescues market the dogs if they are pulled by a dog rescue. There will be more Doggie Day Out Columbia SC videos coming soon…

This is part of the True shelter dog stories, helping dogs get adopted, most of which are in South Carolina. This is not part of The Dodo Dogs, Pawspot Dogs, Hope For Paws, Pawsome Pets or any of those series. If you would like information on how to adopt a pitbull or how to adopt a shelter dog, contact your local animal shelter or dog pound to see what the regulations are in your area. Some of the dogs have amazing stories and many of the animals in the animal shelter are pitbulls. Some dog rescues will pull dogs from the animal shelters, but some of these animals don’t have much time remaining or have health issues, making their rescue attempts much more costly and much less viable. Foster to adopt is an option for some families. These are true shelter dog stories and real shelter dog stories. Most of the shelter dogs are pitbulls and these are real pitbull stories and true pitbull stories.

  1. Fostering really works!! Seniors are a great resource if you can get to senior centers, churches and libraries to find them. Even social workers… These folks don't have the funds or longtime support to own a dog of their own but they want one… And a lot of folks that live on there own are lonely. Perfect match! Takes a lot of phone calls but there are people who want to help the shelter w/o being hands on.
