honestly, I’m more shocked that the defect detectors didn’t pick up on the bad wheel bearing, isn’t that what they are designed to do, they are designed to point out load shift and hot axles and what not to the train crew over a loud radio communication in the cab every-time they pass one.

Preventive maintenance is the real problem here. Mechanics and maintenance employees are not doing their recommended job on a daily basis. Hire me to be in charge!!!! If they mark the repairs with paint then they will know if it's a part that has been serviced/maintenanced or not!!!✍️ A marker paint like the oil change businesses use!
If they put the tanker cars in the back half of the line of rails being hauled it would be less likely that if the train details the chemicals in them would spill.

A bearing/wheel doesn't automatically overhear suddenly. There's multiple trackside warning detectors on the line. It was poor maintenance on the behalf of the railroad.
My cousins husband was killed by a union pacific train car that derailed and fell on him he was a conductoer and they foind that it was fault on union pacific my cousin got a lawyer now this happened in elpaso texas
