Natural disaster in Algeria May, 25 2023: After a drought, torrential rains cause severe flooding in Algeria. Flash floods caused by torrential rain have inflicted heavy damage particularly in the center and east of the country, the ministry of interior reported on Thursday.

Civil Protection teams were deployed to carry out numerous interventions, including rescuing and evacuating individuals from the affected areas. The provinces of Algiers, Blida, Tébessa, Oum El Bouaghi, Tipaza, Boumerdes, El Tarf, Batna, and Guelma were all impacted by the floods.

Some of the worst flooding was reported in Tipaza Province, the severe weather event caused significant damage, with houses destroyed or damaged, vehicles swept from roads, and transport severely disrupted.
