I was incredibly lucky to spend time with this #leopard on a night safari 🐆 Leopards in this area are highly nocturnal during the summer months, avoiding the heat of the day and moving a lot for their hunts, search for water and marking their territory in the darkness. We found this young female near a waterhole.

#MadhyaPradesh is one of the only places in the world where night safaris are allowed. All the parks permit night safaris in the buffer zone and they are an incredible way to witness the beauty of the forest under a million stars. ✨

A lot of people believe that night safaris cause a disturbance to the animals. That’s not necessarily true. If the vehicles and torchlights are operated by an experienced guide/professional who knows that they are doing, animals feel completely at ease as seen in this shot.

It is only during the times of hunts that you risk giving away the position of a predator or partially blinding the prey for a couple seconds if you shine it directly onto their eyes. Moreover, you must understand that these are wild animals, and they can move away as and when they feel, but most importantly I have worked around wild animals for over a decade and never give them a reason to feel uneasy around me!

This girl was so comfortable with us that we spent over an hour with her!
