  1. Some of these people have no common sense or situational awareness. I blame too much Disney and the touchy feely approach to the outdoors. Probably why we have so many Darwin winners these days.

  2. There is people who only have to do one job.
Them so called hunters, have no business in the woods.
Both got rifles and one let the other one get eaten alive.
Actually both were letting the bear 🐻 feast out of the others 🍖 meat.

  3. Lewis and Clark had heard rumors of the grizzly–the size of an ox, enormous strength, great claws and teeth, unmatched ferociousness, able to withstand repeated shots from a rifle. They thought "They can't possibly be that bad." Then when they encountered them for themselves, they found that they were even WORSE than the rumors.

  4. Johan i would have NEVER brought my daughter to an area with bears. Even if i have a shotgun with slugs and a 15 round drum i would feel not so good. But to go there with a lil canister that you did not even teach her how to use is extremly poor parenting. I hope you have learned you appear to be a good guy…….

  5. When you go into the woods, into hill country, on to mountains, think of it as entering a dangerous neighborhood.
You have to be prepared to defend yourself.
Here is an incident that happened to me:
One day in the country, in California in 1979 I was walking and I had three small dogs walking with me. They suddenly stopped as I was walking up a hill. I looked back and made a sign for them to follow me. They just stood there. I then just turned around and continued walking and for some reason just looked to my left as the heads of three large Rottweilers loomed over the tall grass. I immediately saw a tree about thirty feet away and ran like an Olympian and jumped really highup into the tree. The three dogs were stretching and jumping up, snapping at my heels with their large salivating mouths and long sharp teeth…These three large dogs would have mercilessly torn me apart out there alone in the countryside. Now, when I walk in the country I look for a large stout stick, about my height, and sharpen it with my box cutter. I also put some rocks in my pocket. You never know what can come at you walking on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon in the countryside.

  6. I can't imagine watching your friend getting mauled by a bear and not getting a shot off. Obviously, you'd be concerned about hitting your friend but to let them get mauled to death might be enough reason to at least try.

  7. I'm shocked at all the heartless people in these comments. Nobody deserves to be eaten alive. They didn't prepare well, they weren't being safe persay, but nobody expects somthing like this to happen and I don't think it's fair to say that they somehow deserved to be mauled by bears. Learn from thier mistakes for sure, but goodness people are cruel. I hope they're ok today. The emotional pain would be devastating alone. It wasn't a good situation for the bears either, it definitely wasn't anyone's fault. Sad all around. But what did we learn? Read the dang bear spray.

  8. I have a friend that loves going out in grizzly country by himself, unarmed. I keep trying to convince him to find another interest….something safer.

  9. Unbelievable how some of these people very cordial and with children..why not a camper..almost like a death wish..I love nature and animals but I'm not sleeping with wild animals around..just dumb
