A lot of rain in winter is good for the olive trees so you can have a good harvest at the end. I understand you prefer the rain in the night though as that means the dogs are not having a party and you can sleep better.

Must be relaxing to hear the raindrops falling with no other sounds except the wind which makes the trees sway, compared to places with so many people, vehicles, sirens. radios, etc.
Seeing peaceful doggies is wonderful. I imagine the sound of 100's of doggies barking all the time can get to be a bit much.
