  1. This game is literally you at 13 playing chess against your father, then suddenly your king is all that's left and in order not to lose you say your king has a shotgun or magical powers or some random nonsense.

  2. For prospective buyers, this game is definitely worth it. Along with what you saw in the video there's different guns, difficulty levels, and two other modes. Go check it out!

  3. A ridiculous amount of worthless achievements that serve nothing outside of making it as painful and drawn out as possible to complete it. Mentally bankrupt developers who would rather inject their own wierdo political views than make up proper names for things. A complete lack of balance, you're going to die unless the RNG hard carries you. A-yea no pass me on this shit. The concept is fine and all. But when it's made by incompetent people it's just a ticking time bomb.

  4. Let it be known, I was the first person to reach difficulty 14 since the new update.

I cannot make it past 15 though. Someone else beat me to it :C

  5. It does look fun, but I know that I am one of the worst chess players on Earth, so I likely wouldn't have any fun actually playing this. I would die in the first round.

  6. Hell, yeah! My recommendation in an email came through (^‿^) This is a cool concept to break the mold of chess a bit.

Upd.: 1:01:28 "came out of nowhere… I don't even know how I found this…" oh, ok, Vinny :[

  7. This looks awesome. I wonder if he'll check out FPS Chess next lol. We seem to be in a renaissance of chess games with a ton of cool stuff being released.

  8. I feel you need a specific amount of chess skill to be good at this. Like not enough and you’ll make dumb choices like Vinny, too much and you’ll get hung up on the rules and forget modifiers.

  9. There's a Game Jam version for free available on itch, very hard. I've seen professional chess players struggle at this.

I learned about the game thanks to Terry Cavanaugh's blog "free game of the week", really good source for some cool upcoming devs.

  10. I played another chess based roguelike a while back called Pawnbarian, no shotgun in that one but it was still pretty good. You got given a movement deck with different chess pieces on them and your movement options each turn was based on the cards you drew.

  11. Three not so obvious things:

    1) You can increase the amount of protective shields in effect from the options.
    2) You can reload the shotgun without moving by clicking on it's icon on the top left.
    3) Shield will protect you when you would sometime win from killing the king, as with blade there. If you're certain it's a kill or wanna take your chances, disregard the shield.

  12. chess is a thinking man's game, I remember in the august of 1984, when christoff mansler opened with the "give me your wallet and give me the trophy, i'm not fucking around" gambit, and while some would call it a risky opening it did work out for about 28 hours before the swat teams shot him dead.
Little bit of chess lore for you, don't say you didn't learn anything today
