This aardwolf cub named Maple looks like a “mini hyena.” When she was found on a farm in Johannesburg with no mom in sight, a wildlife vet name Lauren helped raise her. When she was finally ready to go on her own, she looked back to thank her rescuer before she ran back to the wild.

This seems really counterproductive. The aardwolf now sees humans as caretakers. Normally in a release situation, the humans don't bond with the animal. They ensure that the animal remains afraid of humans so it can be safe from them in the wild. That did not happen here. This aardwolf is unfortunately probably gonna end up approaching humans for food and getting shot.
