  1. First video, why is dude accelerating past a truck that changed lanes? Mountain road with lots of turns and no idea what is in the road. Giant boulder, stopped vehicle, any possibility and hes going to launch himself around a vehicle? Sounds like a recipe for flying over your handlebars.

  2. It's better to just take accept what happened when you get cut off. Speeding around the person who cut you off just puts the distracted driver behind you and ups your the possibility of him cutting you off again or slamming into you. Sure the bad driver would probably be at fault but you crashing or getting hit is no win if you have to deal with lifelong back pain after the crash.

  3. I enter at a speed where I have good balance standing on the pegs, but not so fast I will get thrown forward once I hit the water. once in the water, I power on and don't let up. even if you are spinning the rotating mass of the wheel will help you stay upright. if you dump it, stop the engine immediately to avoid hydrolock. I sometimes will ferry the panniers over on foot to check how the bottom is + that puts the kit on the other side.

  4. 6:30 the center lane driver was simply a very lazy and unsafe driver. They first cut into the left lane, then into the cammer’s lane, before exiting in their own center lane. Severe need for retraining.

  5. Dan you save lives everyday, thank you. I haven’t watched your videos in a while but today I was riding and I saw the patterns. Your videos definitely saved me a few times over the years.

  6. The first clip with the truck passing is instructive for me — great skill from the rider, but three or four questionable decisions to get into a position where skill was needed. I probably have the skill for the braking (not nearly as smooth as the rider on the video did though) so rather than operating at the edge of my skill envelope, I'd rather have better decision making so my (limited) skills aren't put to the test. (Though I do strive to be more skilled & smooth every ride.)

  7. 14:41 There's a lot to water crossings. You want to enter with just enough speed so that you don't get slowed down and have to put a foot down. Don't really want to go into it with loads of speed because you'll feel it when you slam into the water. The water creates alot of resistance so you'll probably end up with first gear and a rather large throttle setting even though the speed won't be that high. Avoid using the clutch as you'll probably get bogged down. It'll be really hard to get started again. You should be standing as the bike is going to move around alot as it finds it's way past all the rocks and things you didn't see. If the bike is going down hit the killswitch so it doesn't drink a bucket of water and bend a conrod.

You can walk next to the bike and use the clutch to walk across if you want to go slow but it might even be harder with reduced traction and not being able to read the terrain underneath.

There's lot of adventure riding channels that have great videos for water crossings. Look them up before you go.

Always go with friends is best.

  8. 6:30 The red car wasn't even trying to get past the car in front as it didn't stay in the lane or accelerate. It was literally just too lazy to turn the wheel to stay in their lane on the roundabout. Happens all the time, even when there is no car in front of them, so best to watch out for it every time someone is to your left on the roundabout.
