Our video today is about a shepherd dog rescuing a lamb from wolf’s jaw.
Most of the shepherd dogs were bred, to preserve traits that assisted in their job of herding sheep and protecting flocks from predators. Livestock guardian dogs stay with the group of animals they protect as a full-time member of the flock or herd. Their ability to guard their herd is mainly instinctive, as the dog is bonded to the herd from an early age.
Unlike herding dogs which control the movement of livestock, LGDs blend in with them, watching for intruders within the flock.
The mere presence of a guardian dog is usually enough to ward off some predators, and LGDs confront predators by vocal intimidation, barking, and displaying very aggressive behaviour. The dog may attack or fight with a predator if it cannot drive it away. Each type of wolf fills a unique position within its respective ecological niche.

Wild wolves are an apex predator and a keystone species and they are supremely evolved for this role. In fact, before men came and eradicated wolves, they were one of the most widely distributed of all terrestrial mammals. Their size, endurance, strength, intelligence, cooperative hunting, and rearing strategies as well as specific adaptations within distinct subspecies make them a marvel of natural selection.
Not a lot of dogs can fight wolves one on one , however there are some breeds that would do that with an ease. Specially if that specific breed of dog has been raised in an environment where it was trained from a very early age to fend off wild animals.

Let’s make it a bit more clear that why a lot of dogs don’t stand
a chance against wild wolves. A wolf can take down a 1000 pound animal, while dogs sometimes can’t figure out how to tear open their bag of food.
Some ordinary dog breeds scaring away a wolf sometimes is totally a different story. That only happens cause a Wolf won’t risk injury because that’s a death sentence in the wild, but when left with no choice wolf will destroy most of the dog breeds.

Now coming back to our video of the day, this brave shepherd dogs chased off not 1 but 2 wolves. One of the wolves grabbed hold of a lamb and was trying run away with it. Luckily for the lamb , the brave shepherd dog was around and it came running after both of the wolves. When wolf saw that the dog was catching up with it, the wolf let go of the lamb and disappeared into the woods.

  1. Dogs like the wolf are capable putting down large prey but they don't have the motivation since they are fed by humans and even Indian Dhole which much smaller than the dog puts dowm large prey therefore this is not strength but motivation.

  2. Très mauvaise réalisation .les images sont trop floues impossible de suivre. Vaut mieux t'abstenir que de mettre des vidéos de si mauvaise qualité.
