The storm’s maximum accumulation was recorded in Hamburg, New York, where 81.2 inches of snow accumulated. Buffalo saw its fifth-highest 3-day snowfall on record with a total measurement of 36.6 inches. A federal disaster declaration was granted for 11 counties in western and northern New York. Lake-effect snow is produced during cooler atmospheric conditions when a cold air mass moves across long expanses of warmer lake water. The lower layer of air, heated up by the lake water, picks up water vapor from the lake and rises up through the colder air above.

Watching this is like a holiday for me. I get it that lot of people hate it but snow has some weird calming effect on me. Here where I live (Croatia) we used to get a lot of snow in the 90s but nowadays we're lucky if we get a single snow day during the Winter.
