  1. Without spoilers. Wherever you think its going in book 2, it is absolutely not going there. The second book takes a haaaaaaard left turn, and the series might as well just be a completely unrelated series.

  2. I'm going to try not to give spoilers, but I will say that the first time I read ACOTAR I saw a lot of red flags and I felt some vindication after reading the 2nd book. But the awkward sex scenes are always just… Ugh, must you?

  3. I solved the riddle in literally 10 seconds. So this chick can remember oblique clues that the guy has a heart of stone, but can't solve the baby riddle? She kills two innocent people because of that. I haven't even read this but I hate her.

  4. OMG YES, YEEEES! I was waiting for you to come across this series.
Ok, you HAVE to read the sequel because this one is basically only the introduction for the second one.

This hole series has A LOT of troubles, but this one has the biggest red flags for me. It gets kinda better (specially A Court of Silver Flames, loved that one) with every book, but non of them are problems free.

  5. Yes, I've read the series. Unfortunately. It has as you said enough good elements to keep you reading especially since you've already spent money on the books. I too liked Lucien as a character the most in book 1. Non-spoiler: I like Rhysand only in the "under the mountain part" of book 1, when you make a video of book 2 I'll tell you why. I wasn't that bothered by Feyre, although it's said by many that she is a boring moppy character. I didn't like her that much but didn't hate her, I'm kind of in the middle on that.

  6. I see this series all over The Bookish Box's website and the merch has made me curious…but now I know without a shadow of a doubt that I will hate it lol. Thanks for the review.

  7. This was her debut book so you have to look at it from the POV. I really liked this series when I first read it but when you compare it to Throne of Glass and that series it falls flat. that said the 2nd and 3rd books are a lot better and she really grew as a writer. also, I'd give the throne of glass series a go.

  8. The riding to fairyland on the back of a 'beast' who is actually a hot dude who wants to beauty-and-the-beast you is a pretty common folklore trope. Usually the girl has some kind of skill she practices in the day (usually weaving) and at night he sleeps beside her and she isn't allowed to look at him, but then does but wakes him by dropping hot candle wax on him. She then has to win him back by proving who she is/making him remember her before he marries someone else (sometimes a villain, sometimes just a random princess)

  9. I have had multiple friends tell me to read this series, but I am so over the YA/fantasy (stupid/immature protagonist) so please do keep ready and reviewing so I don’t have too 😂

  10. I loved watching Read With Cindy torture herself reading this books. So glad I get to watch Amanda read this now. Honestly, poor Amanda has critiqued so many awful romances that this one is almost acceptable to her. 🤣

  11. …. lol I had listened to all the current books in Audiable and totally want to just do my face reacts… to all her comments… please read the rest of the series 🙂 I love that most of the thoughts you mention are things that I thought too!!

  12. Loved seeing this! I've been waiting for this day for so long. I wrote a whole thesis chapter on the series, and how it romanticises toxic masculinity, so it was fun to see your take on it, because so many people seem to love this series so much 😛

  13. The series gets great and then meh. My tastes in books are a literary trash dumpster so take my recommendation for what you will lol you're going to love acomaf
