At least 146 killed in Halloween crush as revellers surge up narrow street in Seoul, South Korea

AT LEAST 146 people are dead and another 150 hurt after a stampede during Halloween celebrations in South Korea.

Graphic pictures show body bags lined up on pavements and shaking survivors being treated by medics following the crush in a popular party district in the capital Seoul.

Rescuers were filmed trying to pull people trapped underneath dead bodies as field hospitals were thrown up to deal with hundreds of casualties.

Survivors were also seen strewn across the pavement wrapped in foil blankets to stay warm following the crush in Itaewon on Saturday night.

Amid the horror one man was filmed climbing up a wall to escape the surge as 100,000 revellers celebrating Halloween panicked.

The horror unfolded on a narrow downhill alley after a throng of partygoers flooded into it, the Yonhap News Agency said.
“As people in the front fell over, those in the back were crushed,” a witness in his 20s told the news agency.

More than 800 emergency workers from across the country rushed to the scene close to the Hamilton Hotel.

One witness described the number of bodies piling up as looking like a “tomb”.

Police said scores were being given CPR on the streets while many others were taken to nearby hospitals.

Witness Raphael Rashid arrived in the area around 7pm local time and not long after panic erupted as “more and more” people flooded in.

He told the BBC: “So many people – to the point we were being crushed on the pavement, to the point where we had to spill onto the road where there were cars.

“No one really understood what was going on.”

AFP news agency said 140 ambulances were scrambled to the horror scene before taking victims off on wheeled stretchers.

Authorities in Seoul say dozens of people collapsed and went into cardiac arrest after being crushed by the huge crowd.

It came as there were claims an unidentified celebrity was at a nearby bar.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reacted in horror to the crush, saying: “Horrific news from Seoul tonight.

“All our thoughts are with those currently responding and all South Koreans at this very distressing time.”

While French President Emmanuel Macron offered his “heartfelt thoughts” adding: “France is by your side.”

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol issued a statement calling for officials to ensure swift treatment for those injured and review the safety of the festivity sites.

He also ordered disaster medical teams to be deployed.

It is the first time people in Seoul have been able to celebrate Halloween without a face mask since the pandemic.

Seoul’s mayor Oh Se-hoon, who was visiting Europe, has decided to return home in the wake of the accident.

  1. It's devastating I was hoping not to see pictures like this again. A happy party ends in disaster. I want to send my deepest condolences to the bereaved. And to all those who experience this tragic event, I wish you a lot of strength to get through this traumatic experience. I include you in my prayers. Best regards from Duisburg.

  2. What are they anxious to see for what they just look for their death nonsense celebration from the devil remember halloween is from the devil only brings destruction see that , im sure those families are grieving right know remembering every halloween is the death remembrance for their love ones died from this horrible celebration , forget halloween it just brought death.

  3. They r not used to being overcrowded so that's y it happens. Lack of air n hard of breathing.
Personally I find it weird as I've been to various overcrowded places n market ( ask any Indian you'll know)
Anyhow May the departed soul go in Peace.

  4. Why would people still kept walking forward that narrow alley knowing that it’s packed full before getting on it? This place is well known to be packed with people in Halloween in the past according to Korean residents . It’s a preventable tragedy.

  5. 150 people Sacrificed to Halloween 🎃 Demons. But Still this Foolish people will not Repent & Turn to Jesus Christ for the Remission of their Sins..

  6. I have a problem with people blaming the police, how were they responsible? The people that congregated, were they not responsible for themselves. Would you go into a disaster willingly. Surely one can see the chaos, how did the police get them there?

  7. Once again in the new normal, something has happened in a particularly odd way for the first time in history (mass simultaneous cardiac arrest due to a ‘crowd’), and people are eating up absurd explanations for it instead of being able to put the obvious 2 and 2 together.

  8. We are so sorry for everyone's loss. Likely mayor or police chief will get fired for this mess and form new law regarding any gathering events. This accident will not be forgotten. Everyone is stunned that it happened in S Korea. Word can't describe how these victim's parents felt their loved one died in foreign land. I am sure S Korean government will do whatever it take to comfort their family members.

  9. This world is so cruel. but then what you expect when it is a gathering to celebrate the devil . instead of working together to solve the problem, some took it as a joke and made it worse and worse.

  10. The crush accident in Itaewon, Seoul, was not managed by the incompetent government.Currently, even the Korean people hold weekly impeachment rallies because they do not trust the incompetent prosecutor-turned-president and government, and almost all public officials and ministers are appointed prosecutors without expertise.I pray for the souls of the victims

  11. It is very scary to be in a large dense crowd, I can remember in school we had 1500 students and between class the corridors would get packed and sometimes really dense. Some kids would made it worse by being at the back and pushing others in.

  12. After seeing this I 😟 would never go into the crowd again even if there's a party or concert screw that we have a TV now I'm worried about my friend who went there

  13. "DYING without JESUS is the most MISERABLE…"

Proverbs 27:1 – “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.”

    Mark. 8 Verses 34 to 38
[36] For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? [37] Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

JESUS IS THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. BAPTIST PH.

END CORRUPTION, CRIMES, DRUG CARTEL AND TERRORISM.
