Transforming the World one Disaster at a Time | Helping my Local Community | Knocking on Doors

Spread The Viralist

I’ve been driving around lately, and I keep seeing all of these very overgrown verges (we call them nature strips down here in Tasmania). Some of them are the responsibility of the local government, some are the responsibility of the homeowners, and all of them were in need of some major attention. In the end, I just decided to drive around, knock on some doors and offer to fix a few of these eyesores for free. Hopefully, we made someone’s day and also made my local community look a bit nicer 🙂.

FAQ’s:

Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.

Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 4 years on the job.

Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.

Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!

Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!

Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.

Q: Why don’t you use tarps instead of cans?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!

Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I’m not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!

Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I’m not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!

Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.

Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That’s the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!

  1. We call these boulevards here in Canada.the property belongs to the city but owners are responsible for the upkeep..figures your so far away..it's difficult to find good garden help..I'm always afraid to wreck the yard. Lots of rain here..moss in the lawn a big problem. Great job ! I'm sure the neighborhood appreciated this.

  2. Canadians call them boulevards, and it is the responsibility of the homeowner/tenant to do the maintenance on the boulevards. Us friendly Canucks are usually pretty good about doing that! You did a great job and certainly improved the look of the entire neighbourhood. And thanks for having some decent music and NO annoying, long-winded explanations. lol … most of us are pretty bright and can figure out for ourselves why you're there and what you're doing. You just get on with the work and do a great job!

  3. In number two, trees overhanging footpath should be brought to owners attention by council. It is not allowed here in Victoria to obstruct footpath.

  4. First one was back to front, normally grass nature strip is between footpath and road, you made it look so much better, thank you.

  5. That was a massive job x 3! In Melbourne it is the responsibility of the home’s resident to mow the nature strip along with their own yards. Is this not the case in Tasmania?

  6. As always, great cleanups! What a service for those neighborhoods! 👍🏻💚💚💚👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Too bad number 2’s trees couldn’t be trimmed back, as you said it sure needed it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  7. Hi George, small jobs with huge impacts to your community. Why I love about watching professionals work, you mow, use the string trimmer, edge, then mow again. I would not have mowed the second time. But I learn from you! Nicely done!

  8. Hello from Tennessee! Beautiful job (as usual 😁) I would think since those trees were encroaching into public property, you wouldn’t need the owners permission to trim…things are probably different there

  9. Jobs well done, George! Too bad the owners weren’t home. You were right – those trees did need a bit of trimming!

I can’t be the only one wondering what that was about with the family that stopped to examine your truck. And the man stopping to have a word. I got the impression they were trying to tell you they didn’t like where you’d parked! 😂

  10. Hi George! I see that the lack of maintenance by the local administrator is a common problem. But forgive me … Doesn't Nick work in the public administration now? Should we blame him??? 😜 Anyway, you charged for the work that someone else should have done and for free, yet you did it with your usual attention to detail and precision, so double kudos! 👍🌟🍻

  11. A Beautiful job as Always. A +10 for you on keeping the community looking tidy. Where I live in Canada, the Homeowner is responsible for nature strips and front paths. An Awesome job 👍😎 keep safe and Blessed ☮️💖🙏

  12. You don't need a bigger mower you are cutting the grass too short!.
You have cut off all the leaf and down to the lower stem of the grass plant that's why your Mower is stalking and your having to lift it up to cut.
