5. Tampa has not been hit with a deadly storm for 101 years. I went through Irma, which was just a glance to us. Ian, very light. I never lost electricity. I lived in Louisiana most of my life – Hurricanes Audrey, Besty, Andrew, Katrina; in Fl – Irma and Ian. I also lived through tornadoes in north Alabama, huddled by myself under a mattress in the hall with my 6 doxies. One hit 2 blocks from me. Horrible. Nature happens everywhere. I love Florida, I love the beach, I love the weather, the mild winters – I would live on the beach if I could. We love our state; it''s now my home. You take care as much as you can, and you stay wise, you plan wisely. Fires in CA, volcanoes on the islands, earthquakes in Mexico (my daughter went through one there). Horrible. You choose your life to what you are willing to sacrifice. Deadly winters up north. I could never live through those. Many countries have war and bloodshed, some for decades. Life is hard. But you press on. Florida makes me happy, and I'm grateful for all its wonders and blessings. Yes, my heart breaks for everyone whether it's a fire or a storm. I have seen the damages hurricanes can do, and my heart aches for those precious people who have suffered so much. Never give up hope and faith. God sustains.
