  1. I wish you'd show more of your hair. Rapunzel seems to be cornering the long hair market here on YouTube and some of those videos are so sexualized and ridiculous as to be absurd. They are clearly made for men. I, myself, have knee-length hair and am constantly told how beautiful it is. the thing is: I do nothing special. I wash it once a week and wouldn't waste money on a salon. I do my own trimming. I like your videos because they are REAL and show that having long hair does not mean special treatments and magical solutions. Just common sense.

  2. An interesting side note BTW, testosterone is actually one of the primary causes of male pattern baldness. Finasteride, a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor (reduces dihydrotestosterone levels) is commonly used to treat male pattern hair loss. So its kind of a double edge sword.

  3. I really appreciate you making this video as I have been growing out my hair for four years now started at shoulder length and now it reaches below my but dry and my upper mid thigh wet. Like many women and young girls I value my hair a lot and it is a staple in my confidence and what I find physically attractive about my self. You will probably never read this but I can’t explain how much you ya be helped me not only with hair information and corsetry tips but with my mental and physical health. I am only 17 but since the age of 8 I have had crippling body dysmorphia and juggled with eating disorders like anorexia And bulimia. And have always struggled with my self-esteem and self worth. Which is why I valued my hair so much as I felt it was the only pretty thing about me but earlier this year and last year my struggles with my weight and my hormonal issues had started to catch up with me and my hair. And I started to have an alarming amount of hair fall out and break off. It even got to the point where I could run my fingers through my hair and clumps would come out and I felt so ugly and so insecure and so scared that I didn’t know what to do. And like any other scared teenager I couldn’t tell my parents so I turned to YouTube and that’s when I found your videos and your hair advice and more and you really helped me through such a dark time in my life . Recently I am proud to say I am still struggling but I am no longer starving my self or binging and purging. And my air has started to recover and I can see less hair fall and damage . I also have recently been into Victorian and Edwardian fashion and an interest in corsets usually comes with that territory and fate would have it I stubbled upon your videos once again . I just want to say that you are one of the most helpful corset wearer and enthusiast that I have come across. You ho up I’ve and beyond in your videos linking sites and articles and many other things to make sure your viewers are getting all the proper information they need and more. And I really appreciate that. Wow I wasn’t expecting to just open up liek that to the comment section even though I am sure no one will ever see this I just want to let you know one more time that you are amazing and have helped me though so much weather it was from my personal mental struggles to my interest in corsets and corset fashion. If you ever read this I hope you have a wonderful day and know that you are amazing.

  4. This is all great information:) I do wonder tho if anyone is familiar with using argan oil in the hair? I try to put some in after every shower, but winter depresses me as a midwesterner, and I'm often lazy and don't do it. In the summer I feel much better and do it regularly, and I've noticed that my hair grows much, much faster compared to almost not at all depending on the time of year. Could this just be a coincidence or does the argan oil actually promote hair growth in some way? I've been trying to grow it out for several years and can only get it to my mid back, which makes me sad since I know it likely won't grow any longer.

  5. Putting your hair up or in braids, or building habbits to move your hair away from anythnig that will abraid it.
My hair is a bit over three feet right now. I had a lot of trouble at first when my hair got to my lower back, it seemed like it had stopped growing. After a bit of thought and talking with friends, I started paying attention to what my hair did when I sat down in a chair or in the car. My hair was getting caught between my back and the seat, leading to damage to my hair. I started putting my hair over my shoulder when I sat down, and braiding it before bed and my hair was able to continue growing

  6. Wow I came for the corset videos and ended up finding the information I feel like ive been searching years for regarding hair health. As a fellow woman of science I salute you ^_^ Anyhoo, I do very little to my hair. I don't use any heat tools on it (not even a hair dryer) and I brush it carefully. Despite all this, my hair grows incredibly slowly and has never reached passed my nipples before it gets too many split ends that I need to cut it. Trimming the split ends regularly just prevents me from growing any length at all. It could be my diet, but I think its more likely that I simply did not luck our with the hair genes. My cousin has incredibly thick and long hair however T_T she must not get it from my side.

  7. I started researching hair growth around five years ago when I wanted to start growing my hair long. It was above my shoulders at that time. I watched this multiple times and it was the best hair growth video I could find. Years later I’m still interested in hair growth and still believe Lucy has the best content. Came back here for old times sake. Thank you Lucy. My hair is now down to my but! When I talk to people about hair they are amazed at how much I know and honestly THIS video is the main reason. Thank you thank you. If any newcomers are binging hair growth videos and you’ve come across this one, save it! Your search is over.

  8. You are Soooo lovely – making all this effort to help other people xxx And so pretty! Unfortunately my hair will always be 'fine and flyaway' (translation = thin, frizzy and rubbish). For some of us the best option is to accept it, look rubbish on days off and put it up or (you're gonna hate me for this!) apply heat for work or special occasions. I'm afraid some women cannot grow lovely hair even if they follow all your very sensible and well researched advice 🙁
However, I think I have one very useful tip that you probably thought too obvious to mention – carefully brush and tie your hair on top of your head as much as poss & esp before sex/sleep to avoid unnecessary knotting, wear & subsequent brushing so it can be its best when you really want it to xx

  9. curling of the hair is also called circumnutation(latin for revolving around itself), and indeed depending on the growth speed of each side of a hair.
thanx for the great video. it helps so many with scientifically understanding why their hair does not do what they desire.

One thing to note though; hair might seem non-essential, yet it actually is. it stabilizes the skull and with that the brain from temperature changes, which would affect the brains control over other processes. It is also a sensory information gatherer (long haired scouts cut short suddenly lose a lote of awareness of their environment). Hair elsewhere (even when very short like on arms) has the same sensory influence and additional a cooling or warming function (yes even whith as less hair we have it still helps minimalky with temperature regulation), another function is to help spreading scent pheromones(gentital, neck, armpit regions). people with no hair or very short hair will seem more unhealthy in general human(and animal) interaction and will suffer more emotional supression as when having natural long hair.

  10. I love your channel bc you don't assume your viewers aren't capable of learning complicated concepts or not understand large words. you're wonderful at teaching.

  11. Hey Lucy, I'm a MTF here, and I was wondering if you could give me a little insight on male pattern baldness and how to possibly avoid this? I was on HRT for about 4 years but have since been off for 3 and a half years. My T levels have never gone back to what they used to be, but they did elevate a bit. Lately I have been having issues with my hair thinning, and I am wondering if my T levels have somehow dropped again or if this is something else. It's all very confusing to be honest.

  12. I hate the lie that you can do more with short hair than long hair. I shaved my head bald in April of 2017 for pediatric cancer. I've been growing my hair out for 1 year & 4 months. It's very healthy. I have never styled it with heat & I used henna dye in it once which isn't permanent. I don't even blowdry my hair. There are sooo many hairstyles that I can't wait to try in about a year or 2. I can't even put my hair in a damn, sock bun! Longer hair = more hairstyles!

  13. I feel your pain, I also had to memorize all the amino acid structures and a bunch of reactions. Biochemistry isn't easy at all but allows us to understand so many things about our bodies. 🙂

  14. I've recently added fish into my diet and I have salmon just about every day. (I'm making up for lost time.) I also eat a lot of foods with anti-oxidants and good fats. My nails are already benefiting and my eczema is better, both probably due to the extra omega-3 fatty acids I'm getting. Anyway, I figure this will be good for my hair, too.

  15. Please help. My hair has always been my pride and joy. I figured since it is pretty damn healthy, it could deal with some bleach damage. And I figured the master stylist who did all the color-corrections would know how much would be too much. I was wrong, and now I want to burst into tears every time I look at my hair or touch it. I just don't know what to do. my hair has also NEVER been shorter than this and it breaks and falls out. What should i do to regrow hair?

  16. shhiiiitttttttttttttttttttttttt i barley eat i have a meal a day and a snack i have a lot of drinks i really want to have long hair my hair is a little bit past my boobs lol longest its been in a wile but i dont know if i can do all this shit in order to help it btw i do dye my hair black and i never ever style it using heat or any over bad shit bla bla blaaaaaaaaaaa
