Top 10 Words that will Demonetize a Youtube Video
10. War / Nazi / Terrorist
The whole uproar with ads being pulled from youtube started with ads being shown on terrorist videos, now first off maybe it’s time for youtube to tighten up the restrictions on terrorist propaganda video uploads. Add some more filters, keywords that aren’t allowed etc. Secondly not all videos that talk about war, the history of war like Nazi’s are horrible bad videos. Just look at this video I made talking about a Nazi time capsule discovered in Poland. Demonetized. This was before all the stuff went down with the advertisers too. It was demonetized before it went live. This is basically punishing channels for making history related videos.
9. Racial Insults
Being a family friendly channel, I’m not going to say any of these but I’m sure you’ve heard all of them at one point or another. Racial insult don’t seem to be picked up by youtube’s bot on a consistent basis with multiple different youtubers pointing this out. Maybe it has something to do with different accents or people just mumbling and it coming across as a different word to the bot, either way these words will get video demonetized usually.
8. Swears
These are all obvious but it seems youtube doesn’t have an auto detect for swears otherwise ½ of youtube wouldn’t be monetized which would probably kill youtube’s cash flow. At the moment inappropriate language is a part of the advertiser-friendly content guidelines but isn’t being enforced like the others.
7. Nude (nudist, nudity)
Any variation of the word will deem your video not suitable for monetization. This is pretty obvious as youtube isn’t a pornography platform, if you are looking for that there are plenty of other websites out there.
6. 9/11
Typing these letters in your title, description or even just saying them in a video will get it demonetized instantly. Forget about getting this reviewed, a snowman would have a better chance living in an oven then getting a video with 9/11 in it approved for advertising.
5. Death
If you are talking about death in the general sense or possibilities of what happens next maybe a discussion the video should be fine but death as we know it from the news, “5 people were killed in a car accident today” will get a video demonetized as it falls under “tragedies” in youtube’s advertiser-friendly content guidelines.
4. World News related words (foreign news, deals, partnerships)
These words will trigger a response even when approved for manual approval that the content is too sensitive to be advertiser friendly. What does this mean? World news channels on youtube are dead.
3. Locations (middle east, iraq, iran, basically any persian country)
These locations used in content can be demonetized depending on the context of the video. If you are doing a video about sightseeing in Iran, there is a chance it’ll get demonetized but possibly not but if you are talking about war activity that video won’t make a sense. This shouldn’t be a surprise though, right in youtube’s updated terms of service it specifically says “subjects related to war, political conflicts, natural disasters and tragedies.
2. Eating Disorders Keywords (skinny, anorexic, bulimia)
Youtube doesn’t want to be associated with eating disorders so that’s my guess why they don’t want to reward creators who have this type of content. There are a handful of youtubers who talk about their experiences with these disorders and seems at the moment won’t make a dime from helping others doing it.
1. Disaster (tornado, tsunami, earthquake, hurricane)
Another entry from “controversial or sensitive subjects and events” is natural disasters. Writing or saying tornado, tsunami, earthquake, hurricane will all get a video demonetized but why. I completely understand why many of these guidelines are here but I guess they don’t want people making money off natural disasters. That doesn’t really make all that much sense though because first people can’t create natural disasters to then profit from them and two it removes a ton of content that would have been created that would bring awareness and donations and relief to those natural disasters.

What bothers me most is this very video which might save YouTubers getting demonetized, is demonetized.
The world needs a new platform to stream videos. Youtube is out of date and is too money hungry to be enjoyable anymore. I understand that advertising is important in some respects, but all I see on here anymore are adverts. People are getting ripped off by Youtube over rules that are not even enforced by common sense. I have seen way too many demonetized videos and it has never made ANY sense. Phuck Youtube and their mediocrity, let's start a new platform with the sole purpose of not becoming Youtube.
Why does it feel like so many German songs and covers are getting demonetized or removed from YouTube, almost automatically, even when they have nothing to do with… those times?
