  1. I was there standing right next to the jump I'll never forget it… My rider raced the next day and it was definitely a different vibe that day my rider got 2rd for a silver in adaptive snow cross .. but the crash and death.. is what stick's in my mind I still can see the hole run in my mind it was the saddest race I have ever been to.. Rip Calib.. you are always in the minds of people you or your family never had meet I still think about you….

  2. Agreed wholeheartedly. It seems they did everything they could. There is always room for improvement in terms of medical response, safe design of these machines, etc but to the people who do these sports, it means everything to them. To ban their sport is almost akin to death in itself. I'm a skateboarder and do urban climbing and dynamic bouldering. My sports aren't quite as dangerous, but I am also trying to get into skydiving (eventually base jumping and wingsuiting but not proximity) and paramotoring. Extreme sports are my life. I am aware of and accept the risks of the things I love. Who the fuck are you to try to stop me? Banning them from large events will just end with smaller competitions with less safety measures. Make them as safe as possible, but don't block people from doing what they love. Risk is a part of life and it's up to the individual how much they're willing to take on.

  3. Shit happens in action sports, that's just a part of it that everyone who competes accepts. If there was a genuine reason to ban an event, or even the entire winter x games venue, leave it to the riders to voice their concerns, not journalists who probably have never even touched the piece of equipment used in the sport that they're trying to ban

  4. This is why we do it, it is the risk of things and why everyone doesn't do it. If you don't ride keep your mouth shut about it. Once again the reason we do stuff like this is the risk and thrill we know we can die at anytime. If we didn't want to do it we wouldn't but we do so we do. No one needs some idiot that doesn't do anything telling us who does it how to do it or what should be done..

  5. Some 40k people die in auto accidents every year in the USA, and About 3k fall off ladders every year and die…there is risk in all phases of life, but this is one of the safest with so many people ready to help them. It is sad, but it's a choice, and getting hit by a distracted driver is worse, so much worse as it killed innocent kids. This brings up child suicide; there are approximately 37 child suicides every day in the USA; how sad is that s? These extreme sports "MEN and WOMAN" are adults, making an Adult decision, and I respect them for taking this to a place of entertainment and safety for others. It is exponentially better to have these extreme sports than not, as most of these adrenalin junkies would/could cause more deaths to themselves and others by their actions, as I did as a kid (where 7 of my friends were dead before graduation) if left to the streets and in public to go extreme. It would be if you added some of this research on the statistics of everyday actions that kill people and feel you would be doing humanity an excellent service with great value by providing these statistics. Without a good comparison, it may be construed as irresponsible to the sport, as stupid people may look to get extreme sports stopped, which will never stop the extreme adrenalin junky from doing their thing, which will then put even the innocent in harm's way too. Please, obtain the facts and give value to these performers doing this in a controlled and safe manner. Again, about 40k people (men, women, pets, and children) are killed annually in the USA, just driving on our streets.

  6. Wow that sucked growing up the winter X games was always one of my favorite things to watch not so much anymore because I’m so busy there wasn’t anything you said I didn’t agree with..RIP Caleb Moore💙🤟đŸģ

  7. shut the f up. who are you to tell people what they can and what they can not do? if people want to do this they have all the power to do it and YOU have NO POWER over them. you are nobody to tell a man he cant do something because of your personal views. nowadays, you can get killed by ANYTHING whyle walking down the street. so what do we do? ban walking?

u want to make a better world? stop telling people what to do and what not to do. what to think and how to think. treat others as if you want to be treated.

  8. Why the tips of the front skis of the freestyle snowmobiles are not hold against the body of the machine in the air (by some sort of springs)? It would avoid catching the ramp in case of an under-rotated backflip… Or maybe a simple system that allows to break the connection between the skis and the body when hitting the tips in the "wrong" direction – that would allow to continue and finish the rotation and not tip-over?

  9. The saddest thing is that no athlete would want to be the reason that their sport is banned, doing so is a massive affront to their life and passion. Every athlete knows the risk

  10. I don’t know much about the media world but it just seems odd to me that a league like the x games couldn’t just brush off that bold and honestly downright rude criticism. The core group that make up the x games all share the same understanding of the risks and they all understand why they still take that risk anyways. And think about how many athletes lost their main source of income, their best opportunity to boost their popularity and sell their brand because of what that bastard said on his keyboard. When will people learn that extreme sports athletes are going to do dangerous things no matter who is watching so you might as well let them film it and sell tickets.

  11. In every field, every year professionals die to their cause, this is more about cancel culture than safety itself, why not cancel wars? Guess there is too much interest from the powerful and wealthy! They could make snowmobiles safer but they decided to just cancel it, these decisions should be made by the professionals not critics…

  12. Maybe we should get rid of football cause people get cte and kill themselves. Or maybe people should mind their business and let people do what they want

  13. We all know the risks with extreme sports and that life altering injuries and death eventually happens. I just don't want my 11 yr old son to watch it happen on tv. Put the events on tv or stream them but do it with a delay long enough to edit the gruesome injuries and fatalities. It's no different for any other sport. Injuries happen but we don't need to see 5 different slow motion replays of someone being paralyzed forever.

  14. They would haft to stop making snowmobiles !

So many people get killed every year on them. Motorcycles too then cars helicopters airplanes
Fuck they have to stop war too !

And never enter the ocean a shark can eat you.

No I don't want hem to die but my friend died in there sleep too.

  15. He died doing what he loved to do you can't hold that back you can't hold that against anybody people are going to do what they want anyway let them go that's my opinion

  16. I like the argument but what if people wanted a sport where they fought to the death. Where is the line? I think it’s good as it currently sits but should we push it further?

  17. Is it a tragedy to die while doing what you loved to do in this world where most of us die alone and miserable ? I don't think so. Dude was living his passion. He's more alive now then anyone of us could ever imagine…

  18. So should u shut down driving to work. Or shut down riding a bike. People die doing a lot of other stuff but u don’t shut that down. This person died what they loved doing and I can guarantee if u asked them if they died how would they want to. Doing what they love is probably 99% of all of them would say that.

  19. well if i am sick , terminally sick, I can not decide to kill myself. But they have the free choice, dont seem fair to me. If I can be told that I can not, then why not them?

  20. Lol why ban this???? Literally every x games sport, especially mtb and mx can result in death on every trick. It’s their choice, and they live for it and love it. What’s next, ban Isle of Man TT, people die there pretty much every year, but it’s legendaryâ€Ļ.and yea, terrifying. That’s the point. Only the best and most well trained can do it.

  21. Fuck sake shut up.
People die all the time in cars, lorrys, walking running crossing the fucking road! What yah gonna do ban them all.this makes me sick.
    Some good click bate.
It's up to me if i want to risk my life as long as it doesn't risk anyone else.

  22. Yeah I remember a kid trying to gap a big jump on a mountain bike on a local spot (12m long, relatively safe jump). Since he didn't have the skills he crashed before reaching the lip. Yeah he hurt himself but nowhere near "the kids will kill themselves"

  23. The Atlantic needs a new editor it seems… Trash article. Shame on X-Games for folding on this. You think the people that ride snowmobiles and motocross don't understand the risk? People die sometimes in motocross racing. Should that be banned to? How about driving cars? Lots of people die in car accidents… BAN! No.

  24. Extreme sports are inherently dangerous. That's what makes them so popular. One person dies and it needs to be banned?
