  1. Above I shared a link talking about a Hans Neck device (Simpson Hybrid S) that works without the need of a racing harnesses. To be honest I never really knew these existed and thought they all needed a racing harness so, a normal 3 point seatbelt wont work with traditional Hans device. I have ordered one now and any person driving on a track with normal seat belts should invest in something like this. Not cheap but your boy is not taking chances anymore and hopefully my video can save some lives and necks in the future.

  2. Blaming brakes culprit Is so lame.. u don't understand brake pads temperature, brake fade.. brake duct. This guy stay away from track life. You dumb

  3. Dude i'm glad your ok. Scary footage. For me the thing I thought was cool about your car and it braking records was that it was essentially still a Tesla, not a Frankenstein. I hope its salvageable and it or another Tesla shell with your parts in it come to the channel in the future.

  4. Looks staged to me… I don't say it is but it looks so – all the different camera angles, dron shots, cuts, all "proof" videos captured prior, etc… If someone crash, you don't care about camera, you just put the camera down and run to help… not doing detail shots to displays, brake pads, inside out shots to first responders…

Maybe the average viewer is stupid, but not all of them are…

  5. Ever since I saw the crash I was under the impression that the regen braking was giving you a false sense of security because the regen on a car like that is gonna be very significant until you get to higher speeds. When the energy management system(s) will have to protect themselves from overloading the speed controller it provides little to no regen braking.

  6. Sorry, but you're the one totally at fault so stop trying to play armchair lawyer and blame semantics by Tesla with "Track Mode". You modified the stock brakes. You didn't follow the instructions as per Unplugged Performance. Track Mode comes with a full upgraded carbon-carbon brake and caliper kit as optional equipment. Tired of the litigious natural of America of not owning one's responsibility and accountability. Track Mode is for software overrides. You injured yourself by defeating all the airbags. Please, own up to your negligence. Stop blaming 'track mode' means "it should stop on a track!" Every car taken for serious duty on a track have some form of modification and upgrades. Look at all the regulars on the Nurburgring. Even Golfs are upgraded tires, brakes, etc. So just be happy you aren't seriously hurt from your lapse of diligence and spared you family of suffrage of your loss. The car is replaceable.

  7. If your arm wasn't up you would've just broke your ribs and your arm, you hit that wall hard as HELL. I'm glad your relatively okay man, was a scary scary crash

  8. I never go on track without my Hans device even for practice or testing doesn't matter doesn't matter if I'm racing off-road doesn't matter if I'm drifting doesn't matter if I'm out at the road course doesn't matter if we're out at the drag strip even got my kids wearing Hans device

  9. Life is a learning experience. You replaced the brakes because you knew the stock breaks where not capable of what you wanted the car to do. You failed to follow the new brake manufactures specifications by not using the recommended and included brake fluid. I credit you for taking responsibility but it still sounds like you are deflecting a bit. Wising you the best and hopefully safe and fun track time in the future.

  10. Glad you're okay. You need to own your mistakes. This is 100% your fault. Don't say "but Tesla fluid is garbage". Your acting ignorant and we all know you're not ignorant. You knew the fluid issue, you knew the brake were new and untested. You can have world class brakes, but if you blow passed your braking point at 170 mph you're going into the wall. This has nothing to do with Tesla. Stop blaming others for your mistake. If you own your mistakes, it will help you in your future endeavors. Sorry for the rant. I like your channel, thanks for the time put in to the videos.
Edit: I forgot to add. I had ACL surgery. I high recommend kneesovertoes work outs for getting full mobility post op. GL and god speed!

  11. Your video title could be confused to blame tesla for your brake failure. In truth, it seems all possible modes of your brake failure were self-induced. As another racer, own your failures. Stop your slimy lawyer speak. Were your "upgraded aftermarket brakes" calibrated to the tesla braking and stablity control? Mixing dot3&4. Grow up and own your stupidity.

  12. The Track officials should also look at this event as a reason to enforce safety rules at ALL TIMES. 170mph with no helmet, no 5 point belts and a neck brace is irresponsible. If it was Nascar or a sanctioned event series or something you'd probably be fined etc. Better thank God here Sir. Watching you walk away was incredible.

  13. Dot 3 boils at a lower point than dot 4, that mix most likely didn’t handle the heat like straight dot 4. Glad things turned out as good as they did, that was a hell of a ride.

  14. I think this type of car should be equipped with a stop drivetrain switch that you yank your left hand down by your side, and that pulls the trigger to command the drivetrain to use all regenerative braking to decelerate it and reactivated and disabled stability controls to help it accomplish the task when in track mode. This type of tethered engine cutoff switch is present in speedboats to shut down the engine in the case of a driver ejection so the boat doesn’t circle around and run the driver down. So, I know the switch hardware already exists, the effort of Tesla to show where to tap in to an unused I/O Port to wire it in and write a few lines of code for this emergency routine, is all it would take. Elon Musk, did you hear that? And while you are at it, put some real brakes on this otherwise Supercar an ex put upgraded racing fluid in if gif Pete’s sake!

  15. Maybe these car’s were intended to just save fuel and take you to the grocery store or work.. just maybe they weren’t designed to be doing all these nascar & drag racing morons are doing.

  16. I just heard about this on 7/8, I’m glad you will survive this hopefully fully healed. It will be interesting to see how much of the driveline and frames survives this and it it can resume it’s normal frame shape and wheel geometry and run with Tesla intended engineering as far as steering and suspension geometry, and if after all this, you can get the Brake hardware and system on par with a driveline that can cope with the performance a plaid drivetrain dishes out and hold up to it. Someone just had one of these up to 213 MPH and I’m wondering how much unnecessary danger that driver was in.

  17. Hey uncle chet, just thought it was awesome, but not under the circumstances, to hear you mentioned on one of the YMH network podcasts The Danny Brown Show. Glad word is getting out about Tesla.

  18. Didn’t Tesla wreck one on the Nuremberg Ring while trying to break a record on that closed course? Perhaps the brakes are what failed in that incident as well

  19. You are doing 170 MPH for even a second, you should be using a helmet, a Hahn’s Device and all the racing gear! If it isn’t there, keep your right foot out of that accelerator pedal until you are equipped.

Perhaps this will give pause to other YouTubers pushing the limits. I think the changing aerodynamics also took the downforce off your rear end, so the the rear end oversteered, and with the rear brakes not contacting the road well, all braking was on the front wheels. There is also a possibility at that speed with the altered aerodynamics, there was a lifting on the front wheels breaking the grip and braking power of the front wheels.
