Researching and studying the behavior of animals in their wild habitat has been a life-long passion of mine, but never to become overly enthusiastic for a close encounter .
Just an FYI I worked undercover for PETA and even though I reported elephants where fine at several circus shows they claimed they were abused. They’re liars.

About the outcry against zoos… People seem to be missing the POINT of an actual ZOO. It is not actually there for entertainment but there to help revive endangered and critically endangered animal populations and to (hopefully some day) release a viable and sustainable, THRIVING colony of said animals into their original environment, thus repopulating them and reviving them and (eventually) removing them from those lists. We need those zoos! What we do not need is for people who know nothing about the TRUE PURPOSE of a zoo to continue to run them like amusement parks!

I’m not sure if closing zoos is the best answer. I think there needs to be a safe place for people see the animals up close and learn about them. If people aren’t educated they’ll take the animals for granted or worse not know how to interact with them if they come across them in the wild. That said the international laws on animal rights need to be updated and unforced.
Imagine coming up with the process for finding erased historical writings.
