Chester, Pa. (WTXF) Dumped by the side of the road and left for dead and investigators say that’s probably just the latest in a string of cruel acts committed against an innocent dog.
Russ Harper, a humane police officer with Justice Rescue, can’t believe a severely abused Pit Bull who was left for dead is actually even able to get up. Harper got the call Monday night around five o’clock that someone had dumped the dog at 6th street near Caldwell in Chester City.
“He was lying over there in the weeds where someone found him and he was just cold and lifeless. I really thought when I picked him up he was dead,” Harper told FOX 29.
When Harper realized the dog was still alive he raced him to Keystone Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Havertown. The dog he named Remi was in horrific condition.
“Pretty severe bite injuries and his body was very weak and on top of that a severe infection from all the multiple bite wounds he has gotten,” said Keystone Emergency Veterinarian Dr. Leanne Thompson.
Harper says there is no question Remi, who’s only about a year and a half old, had been repeatedly used for dog fighting and when the poor pup got sick he was tossed out like trash.
Now, Remi is fighting a whole new battle, he’s fighting for his life.
“As long as he keeps showing he’s getting better and not in pain we gonna continue to fight with him,” said Harper.
“He’s not out of the woods yet. He has shown some signs of improvement since he first came in so that is encouraging, but it’s still touch and go,” Dr. Thompson explained.

No way to stop dogfighting until the penalty gets stiff. Automatic 10 years mandatory sentencing if convicted. You have to make these people understand they are going to pay a hefty price when they get caught. You'll lose the casual idiots that bet on the fights and the rest round up and arrest.

The only way to solve this is to DISCRIMINATE AGAINST PITBULL OWNERS.
