This was a lot of rain over an extended period of time, the ground got super saturated this caused landslides.
There is no systemic deforestation in Jamaica, this has nothing to do with planting more trees. Enough rain fell in 2 weeks that would have been close 50% of rainfall Jamaica gets in a year so rivers crest then overflow their banks, so you get flooding.
