13. The song, I have decided to follow Jesus, was composed and sung by a Garo Chieftain of Meghalaya, North East of India. He converted to Christianity and the tribesmen were agast and deeply angry. No matter what pressure and threats he was under to denounce Jesus, he stood firm. The tribesmen gave him a last chance to return to the tribal god's. He sung the song while they led him to his execution!! And today a majority of the Garo tibe embraced Christianity. Praise the Lord

    Yet God, who is "…rich in mercy,…" sent His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to suffer and die on the cross for all guilty sinners. We broke God's law and the Lord Jesus Christ paid our fine. That means God can legally dismiss our case and He can commute our death sentence. John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life."  Then the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead and defeated death.

    Please, repent of your sins and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, and God will give you eternal life as a free gift: Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

    John 14:6: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

21. I sang In the Garden and Nearer to Thee at a VFW Post and Auxiliary state convention memorial service in honor of my Grandmother and Aunt who I lost within months of each other. My grandmother used to sing The Old Rugged Cross along with other hymns frequently when she was staying with us in my high school years. I lost them my sophomore year in high school. To say high school was rough from then on is an understatement. My dad had a stroke only one year later. I lost my faith and it sank deeper when my mom was diagnosed with the same disease that took my aunt. ALS is a disease I wouldn’t put on my worst enemy. I’ve seen it first hand take two aunts and my mom. These songs are some of what I have left of them in the form of a memory. After having my miracle child, I have found God again. This time I’m not letting go.
