Mars’ moon Phobos is on a collision course with the planet. But before we go into that, let’s paint a picture of how this is all going to play out.
Imagine this – humanity has turned Mars into a colonial paradise. Suddenly, one of the moons, Phobos, begins to careen towards the planet, spiraling closer and closer to the surface of Mars. A disaster movie comes to mind, Moonfall – when the earth’s moon is about to collapse onto the planet and destroy everything! How would the future of humanity react to such a catastrophe?!

😱 If you knew the moon was going to collide with our planet and you only had 12 hours until impact, what would you do?
Maybe it's hit before and created that canyon, and then ricocheted back in orbit
6 feet every 100 years?! By then we will have the technology to ‘tow’ the moon back into safe orbit around mars. We already have redirected an asteroid that could possibly hit earth!
If Deimos does drift off into space it could eventually hit the earth, as if we haven't enough to worry about.
Phobos will break apart slowly via gravitational friction and scatter like a ring eventually as its parts drift downward. Its not gonna fall as a single piece but a shredded mist overtime.
But since its slidy rotational pattern will eventually collide with orbital elevators at any location near the equator, we are going to have to remove it manually. And also since its going to be shredded slowly into a ring anyways… I think it prudent we use for just that… and make “Phobos Equatorial Ring”(construct) out of its carbonic materials around the martian equator manually, that can be linked to multiple elevators and support an absurd level of space operations.
It may be falling slowly but it certainly does not have to go to waste.
That moon has been spiraling ever since it was captured by Mars sometime over the last 3 billion years. The moon is skimming the atmosphere, so of course it is slowing down and dropping. Any action to make the atmosphere thicker will just make it fall sooner.
The impact would be rathere severe, but no where near the Chicxulub impact on Earth (the moon won't be falling at 25,000+mph.
Gee – you would think there was no oxygen on Mars. After all, the surface is covered in rust and rocks, rust is 2/3 oxygen (or more), rock is 2/3 oxygen. and there is a lot of CO2.
Why should we be worried???? It’s not like it’s our moon 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Quick fact correction. The Moon is 240,000 miles from the earth on average and orbits the earth once every 28 days.
It doesn't matter if you teraformed Mars for a few hundred years or longer.
It doesn't matter if oxygen was created in mass on the surface.
Fact is Mars has a thin atmosphere and oxygen could never reach the level needed to sustain breathing by humans.
The fact remains that without wearing a protective suit and helmet would result in one's eyes bursting due to decompression.
Blood vessels would become distended and burst as well.
The lack of atmospheric pressure, the fact of a quite toxic, acidic atmosphere makes any idea of surviving the Martian environment highly unlikely if not absolutely impossible unless in a containment structure or underground.
One theory is that mars was once an inhabited planet but was in collision with another planet namely venus which supposedly explains why venus has a contra rotation, being a rogue planet passing through our solar system coming into close contact with one of the systems planets would give it a contra rotation.
What if that moon fall will reactivate life on Mars (･o･;)
Scary as hell but you wouldn't feel a thing. Maybe a pinch.
Thank goodness for Elon musk cause our governments around the world really. Dont care about earth or out survival as a species and humanity instead of trying to make world peace they make world wars and try and turn everyone against each other by brainwashing half the population. Would it thought? Sure there would be destruction, but one huge element this entire subject is not mentioning is Speed. Yes Phobos will smack into Mars, but at what speed. What makes comets, and asteroids so destructive is the speed of impact. Again it would be destructive but not world ending etc.
Sad we're gonna lose the moon one day. Shame for our descendants if humanity is still around

You can worry all you want if wherever you are a meteor or chunk of a heavenly body is coming just make your peace with your God because it’s your time and their is nothing you can do to stop it
