  1. You mentioned Philadelphia. Could you do a segment on the controversial Philadelphia Experiment conducted by the U.S. Navy during WW2.

  2. @1:48 The Salem was decommissioned January 30, 1959 but sister ship U.S.S. Newport News (CA 148) was decommissioned June 27, 1975.

  3. Simon Whisler, can you please make a video about Bob Denard: The French mercenary who carried out several coups in Africa, Middle East and South America please

  4. Fifth degree burns are when all the surface tissues are burned away exposing muscle.
Sixth degree burns go through the muscle to the bone.
Some classifications go up to forth degree burns being bone damage.

  5. I kinda think that if ghosts were the worst part of your tour of duty on a heavy cruiser you should be rather happy since 7 of US heavy cruisers (as well as a bunch from other countries) were sunk during WW2. That is sunk by real enemies, not haunted by imagined ghosts.

  6. My grandfather tried to join the Navy 3 times and was rejected because he was a commercial salmon fisherman on both the Columbia River and Bristol Bay. He was accepted about a year and half before the end of the Pacific war. He served on the Cruiser Miami in one of the big gun turrets, he experienced a Kamikaze strike and each time they had an engagement his whole crew would exit the turret they had blood running out of their ears.

  7. "The USS Salem would be deployed to the Mediterranean seven times making stops in Manila, Italy , France, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon and Algeria."
I am pretty sure Manila is nowhere near the Mediterranean. ;P

  8. Unfortunately, she isn't the last heavy cruiser to enter service, although she is probably the last "gun" cruiser to be commissioned. Although i guess you could argue that the missile cruisers aren't heavy cruisers, they fall into that same displacement and role.

  9. Stayed overnight during the Boy Scouts, I don’t remember the paranormal part, but I remember the crummy bunks we all slept on lol

  10. How about the Mighty Mow next? I think we already got the Iowa on a channel but the Missouri is something special i think.

  11. wait – Bismarck WAS engaged in combat, and it sunk HMS Hood. It was a disaster – a shell hit Hood's magazine and it exploded, out of 1300 men crew, only few survived, 3 men if I am not mistaken.

  12. My dad (shipboard Marine) served on the Salem and was onboard when the ship participated in the filming of The Battle of the River Plate. As part of the Mediterranean Fleet, they made a lot of port calls from Istanbul to Gibraltar and then Havana before returning home. I visited the ship in 2010 and as no one was looking, I scattered some of his ashes over the side. It was fun going into the one open main turret. Got there (Quincy – pronounced Kwin-zee) from Boston by train and bus. Freaking awesome.

  13. jeune ecole was a in theory great idea, the techniology ie range or accuracy just didnt exist yet in the early 1900s. oh and torpedoes are supposed to go thru the air as missiles.
clownworldfunny: us flyboys demanded any missile cruisers missiles be kept within a 50km maximum range so as to not make aircraft carriers obsolete.

  14. The people saying that the boat is haunted are absolute idiots. They are obviously being manipulated by reptilians who pushed the haunting story to draw attention away from their dark energy powered earthquake machine testing. We can see through your lies, "fact" boy!

  15. 10:30 they werent trained for rescue and carrying dead bodies thats true. But they were well trained in killing bodies and sinking ships with thousands on board in the name of defence and safety of the home land. One would think they were some what prepared but i guess thats not part of the training program. Shoot that target 1 mile away and then go back to base do some push ups and play cards.

  16. Ok for one i agree with you the ghost stuff is silly but rooted in logic. If you have enough people traumatized by death and they have strong beliefs ie not science based minded athiests then what you will have is a crew of tortured individuals all dealing with the spectrw of death in a way there brains can over imagine the weird things the brain can do which usually most would dismiss.

Also 4th degree burns means the even the muscle and bones is cooked literally.

And hell hounds have nothing to do with earth based dogs. They are dogs from hell that drag those back to hell that shouldnt be on earth. Its as much make believe as ghosts but worth mentioning because you dont know the facts on said mythical creature.

  17. I sailed aboard Salem's sister ship USS Newport News (CA-148) The last all gun Heavy Cruiser. My time aboard 1968-69-70 Call sign THUNDER flag hoist; November – India – Quebec – Quebec I was on her for 2 tours in Vietnam Then onboard the USS Springfield (CLG-7) 71-72 Flag Hoist/Radio Call Sign: November – Whiskey – Delta – Mike "Fair Winds and Following Seas" Brothers the USS Newport News (CA-148) has a museum aboard the USS Salem (CA-139)

  18. As an ex Sailor I can tell you that there is nothing more spooky than a powered down / blacked out ship.
    The silence is opressive AF.
