🍌 What is Geography? Crash Course Geography #1

Spread The Viralist

So, what is geography? In our first episode of Crash Course Geography, we will endeavor to answer this seemingly simple question with the help of a similarly simple factoid: that the US imports more than 3 billion pounds of bananas from Guatemala each year. But as it turns out, beneath the kinds of factoids we usually associate with Geography are much grander stories that really are Geography. So let’s go a little bananas as we explore the sordid history of the Chiquita banana.

  1. So chuffed about this one, people really dislike geography for no reason and this is great, she sounds so passionate and the animation is also ace.

  2. Question. How do you properly pronounce Papua new Guinea, specificaly the Papua part. I have tried looking it up but get incredibly varied answers

  3. AHHH! So happy for this series! Currently starting my MSc in Geography and so happy more people will learn of the vastness of this field!

  4. In 2018 I discovered that there was a world beyond Psychology that explains humans. Then I took Human Geography and discovered that where was a valid question to ask.. That's when I became a Human Geographer.

  5. This is great, I’m a history student but I’m interested to watch this crash course to help with when geography can be useful in my work. Best non-John Green Crash course I’ve seen.

  6. As someone who grew up in the US, but is originally from Guatemala I thoroughly appreciated this video. I can't wait to continue to watch this series.

  7. The content is really great, but the woman in the video speaks so fast that I thought I had the video at 1.5 speed at first.
For someone who is pretty fluent in english but doesn't speak it as a native tounge it's sometimes hard to keep up.

  8. I am so glad that you are putting together a Geography Crash Course series. I have taught Geography and I would have loved to use your videos. I will be watching them because once a geography teacher, always a geography teacher.

  9. I took a geography class several times in college and high school (About 2 times for fun, 2 required). I passed each time. Each time they taught me something new. And each time they were just about the basics. And each time they were immersive and massive filled with such a strong world view. I wish we loved Geography more. The people that know less tend to be the most self-repressed.

  10. Today, I was thinking that ever since the old disastrous Crash Course Geography that resulted in an apology, I should search up "Crash course Geography" on YouTube. I realised that this video was only uploaded 20 hours ago
