Natural Disaster Lesson Plan Video

Spread The Viralist

This is a rough outline of the plan which I would follow.

I have chosen “natural disasters” to be the theme of this lesson/activity. Students will work together to negotiate how to explain conditional statements, and modal auxiliary verbs, in the context of “if I were in a natural disaster, I would…..”

The idea is to get the students working together, negotiating with each other, and even disagreeing with each other in discussion through various activities in order to facilitate conversation. The last part of the first activity would be fun for students because they would be making conditional statements while using modal verbs, and they most likely wouldn’t even realise they are following a target grammar structure.

I have done this activity many times with students in the past and they enjoyed it.

The second part of this lesson is a cause and effect essay, which I chose because I am currently teaching this right now. I would encourage students to produce an outline, and then a rough draft for an essay based on a given topic. Students would then write a rough draft, then they would submit it to me. I would provide one on one individual consultations with them, or in class consultations… whichever would make them feel more comfortable.
