Incredible scenes as huge waves impact Bondi Beach sending the sea onto the road – 02 April 2022

Spread The Viralist

Bondi Beach was impacted by very large waves and a high tide sending sea water over footpaths and onto the roadway.

Locals ran for cover as waves crashed over the promenade. Waverley council and police closed parts of the footpath to keep onlookers safe.

  1. I didnt find it funny when the waves came roaring in, people were standing around laughing! Does anyone remember how many lost their lives to something like this on a Christmas Day years back! Sheesh!!!

  2. What the cops doing there? Don’t they have a crime to solve? Hassling ordinary folk going about there business. I say if some moron wants to get closer, let them. At some point, each of us have to take responsibility for our own actions and leave big government out of our legal decision making

  3. Grandson chase hardaker went out and surfed it had a JetSki flipping Tim onto waves thank Goodness he’s o bondi rescue lifeguard couldn’t see any of our new yuppies or Brazilians out there

  4. Wow Daniel, that is some amazing video! Thank you for sharing it with us. I ave seen many many videos of Bondi Beach but I've never seen nything like this. Are yu going to be able to come to the USA for storm chasing? We've had tornados in every month now, I think. Looking forward to yur storm chases. Barbara J

  5. That idiot surfer needs a large fine and a ban from the beach. What an ignorant fool. Next thing he’ll expect some of the lifeguards to go out and rescue him!!😡Did the tower get damaged? The fences and seats are getting a thrashing.

  6. The beach is obviously closed with police taping off areas clear as day, and yet there are pricks that will walk on the beach inside the tape just to prove their arrogance and stupidity.

  7. Wow – Thats some serious shoreline run-up there. People don't realize the dangers of wave induced surge. Here in the states in Oct 1991 (and again in Oct 2012 with Hurricane Sandy), I saw this first-hand in FL with the "distant" effects of the "Perfect Storm" off the NE USA (1000+ miles away) wrecked havoc with 30 foot waves on a calm and clear day. And, yes, in my early 20's (my good days) I was one of those "crazy dudes" do try to surf on that! Distance isn't always your friend as "wave energy" sure can "send it" 🙂

  9. I’ve always hated Bondi beach. It’s a crowded ugly tourist trap full of wannabes. Haven’t been there for over 20 years.

  10. We should tax more, so that the planet cools downs – or warms up. I'm not even sure what they are trying to do now. But I hope they don't tax too much, so that we don't get an instant ice age!

  11. What a show! Seeing this incredibly popular swim spot become a tempest is incredible. The ocean really seems like a living being, 'toying' with folks who get complacent. I wish people would take it more seriously, especially those putting their pets at risk.

We get storms like this on Lake Superior and they are a humbling sight. I can only imagine the amount of erosion this is causing.

  12. I lived literally a two minute walk from Bondi Beach in a dingy two bedroom apartment down a concrete flight of stairs with my soon to be husband and his mate, it was 1979 and from what I can see things haven't changed all that much except the waves are much much bigger at the moment. I miss Bondi Beach sometimes but wouldn't like to be paying for the rent for that dingy little flat now!
